A340 Autoland

Recommended Posts

Guest planemainiac89

I am having trouble with the PSS A340 autoland. I first open the radio stack, press NAV1 tune the ILS frequency, then I press the ILS button witch works fine, then I push AP1 for my autopilot, then I push LOC and the green light does not illuminate, and neither does the APPR switch, if anyone knows of this please let me know, I have also read through the manual a few times so I'm not guessing. Again, if anybody knows about this please let me know, I have had this problem for about a year now.

Make sure you have activated your approach. I set up the details on the approach phase (PERF page) just after the descent checks - you can scroll through the phases on the PERF page - and then activate and confirm the approach at about 3000 feet. With the ILS switch all it does is put the ILS freq into the bottom left of the PFD. So make sure it shows up there with the correct frequency. Also, I tend to have a look on the RAD NAV page and make sure that at LSK3L it says ILS and that the ILS freq is showing up at LSK1L.Rob Elliott, EGPE InvernessPSS Airbus Support andAirbus Fleet Training Captain, British Airways Virtual airbus@speedbirdonline.co.ukhttp://www.speedbirdonline.co.uk/airbus.htmlhttp://www.bavirtual.co.uk

HyIf I don't misunderstand you are putting manualy your ILS freq on the RAd nav page at the NAV1 pos.The best thing is to leave it automaticaly. Then the ils freq showed at the LSK3 will move automaticaly to the LSK1.Thats what I reed in the AOM's of tha airbus A330. Leave it in automatic iso putting it manualy at the NAV1 positionGreetingsThierry Aelst
