Size of taxiways and A330/340

Recommended Posts

Because of the Airbus size I am having trouble steering along and round taxiways. I just don't seem to be able to turn sharp enough for the width available in FS9 with the result I carve up the grass and/or get bogged down which needs a lot of throttle to get moving again. Against the B737 the A330 seems to be a lot bigger than specifications suggest it should be (at least twice the size). So my question is can the 'Bus' be reduced slightly or can FS scenery be expanded or can the turning circle be reduced?Peter

"Can the 'Bus' be reduced slightly" - No"can FS scenery be expanded" - No"Can the turning circle be reduced?" Possibly, I will look at the relevant parts of the aircraft.cfg fileRob Elliott, EGPE InvernessPSS Airbus Support andAirbus Fleet Training Captain, British Airways Virtual airbus@speedbirdonline.co.ukhttp://www.speedbirdonline.co.uk/airbus.htmlhttp://www.bavirtual.co.uk

Have you tried using the differential brakes to help you steer on those tight corners, as well as steering?I've never had any problems with the 'Buses using that method.Andy

The A330/340 minimum turning width (outside face of tire) for a 180 deg turn is 48 m/157 ft.Hakan

Problem resolved. Following a solution offered by Rob Elliott to a different topic I downloaded and installed Rob Barendregt's 'Push Back and Taxi Gauge'. This allows better control of speed when using taxiways with tight turns. By keeping it down to 8-10 mph it is possible by using the differential brakes and make a clean turn. Thanks to all.Peter
