N1 at Throttles idle

Recommended Posts

Regarding the A320, it seems that my N1 gauges show a 24% reading at throttles idle. Therefore, while attempting to taxi, the a/c tends to run away from my control. Is there something that I can do to rectify this and reduce the N1 to a normal idle throttle reading?Dom

24% is normal idle for the IAE engines. In real life with a less than full load, the aircraft does not require any more thrust than idle to taxi, and will require regular braking to maintain a safe speed.

I recommend using the Rob Barendregt pushback, taxi and groundhandling guage available here at avsim which not only allows control and turning on pushvack but allows you to set the taxi speed. I have it on all my aircraft.Rob Elliott, EGPE InvernessPSS Airbus Support andAirbus Fleet Training Captain, British Airways Virtual airbus@speedbirdonline.co.ukhttp://www.speedbirdonline.co.uk/airbus.htmlhttp://www.bavirtual.co.uk
