A330 - 340 Performance

From Airbus site I know that cruise speed of A330 is 0,84M and A340 is 0,86M. Every fly with PSS was not greater than 0,82. Why? This happens also in case of tail wind. How increase performance?ThanksFB

Where did you get that numbers?0.86 is the maximum speed which can be reached at cruise altitude, but the typical cruising speed for the A340 is 0.82M, or even less.The PSS A340 can reach M0.86 which is exactly where the overspeed starts on the speed tape, but you have to manually select that speed on the FCU. The FMC limits cruising speed to M0.82 (which, I think, is correct).
