Landing lghts from 2D

Recommended Posts

Guest coolfront55

Could someone please tell me if a solution has been mentioned about not being able to see the landing lights in 2D panel in the A321 and I think someone said the A330? I did a search, but found nothing conclusive.George

Could you describe the problem a bit further as I get landing lights quite correctly in the 2D panel of the A321 as shown below. You should check your fs9.cfg and in the graphics section make sure that the see_self line =1 and not 0. Engines should be on as well - but then you wouldn't have your landing lights on without the engines unless you were practicing a duel engine failure on approach :-eek However, if you actually mean the nose and runway turnoff lights then those don't work due to a limitation going back to FS2002 for which the A320 family was developed originally. But they do work on the A330/A340 which was designed for FS9.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/163575.jpgRob Elliott, EGPE InvernessPSS Airbus Support andAirbus Fleet Training Captain, British Airways Virtual airbus@speedbirdonline.co.ukhttp://www.speedbirdonline.co.uk/airbus.htmlhttp://www.bavirtual.co.uk

Thank you for your responce. First of all, I cannot locate my fs9.cfg file. I checked the root directory where Flight Simulator is located but found only FS200 and 2002 cfg's. I am using Windows XP.Is it installed in a different place. Yor picture shows the landing lights, mine does not. Thank you for any further help.George

Thanks, I found it and confirmed that see_self=1 is there. My engines are running. I am using an ATI 256 graphics card, Windows XP Media Center. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks George

I find that ctrl+L gives me quite a dim light (and I prefer not to use keyboard shortcuts if I can avoid them) So rather than use Ctrl+L try going to the overhead panel and turn on BOTH the landing lights AND the nose wheel light (to the right of the landing lights). That gives me the light intensity that was in the image.Rob Elliott, EGPE InvernessPSS Airbus Support andAirbus Fleet Training Captain, British Airways Virtual airbus@speedbirdonline.co.ukhttp://www.speedbirdonline.co.uk/airbus.htmlhttp://www.bavirtual.co.uk

George,Some questions: Are you able to see landing lights in other aircrafts with the 2D panel (e.g. Beech Baron 58)? Have you installed some addons, which manipulated your light textures (e.g. halo.bmp) or your night environment?RegardsReinhard

Thanks for your response Reinhard. Yes I am able to see the landing lights from 2D on other aircraft, in particular the PSS A319 and A320. I have added a new halo.bmp, but it has not effected any aircraft that I normally fly. I read in this forum, that awhile back, there were others that had a similar issue with the PSS A321 landing lights not showing up in 2D panel. They neither show up in fs2002 or fs2004. I appreciate your time and assistance.George

George,I have just tried it. All PSS A319/A20/A321 showed the landing lights. Just to be sure: Have you checked in the display options in the tab aircraft the third checkbox (landing lights) ?

Reinhard, Again thanks for your time. Yes display/aircraft/landing lights is checked. I only like to fly in 2D. The lights show up in virtual cockpit. It is confusing me, because all other PSS airbuses show the landing lights in 2D.George

Right, I might be getting somewhere in that I have been able to reproduce the lack of landing lights on the A321 but it also affects the A319 and A320. You can improve it with CTRL+SHIFT+NUMPAD2 but not alter the overall intensity. Edit: I suggest you get a file from the avsim library in the FS2004 Miscellaneous files section called FS2k4_ll.zip by Frederic Nadot which worked well for me in fixing the problem and getting the correct intensity. If you can't find it or if it doesn't work for you let me know (by email if you wish as I have an alternative solution).Rob Elliott, EGPE InvernessPSS Airbus Support andAirbus Fleet Training Captain, British Airways Virtual airbus@speedbirdonline.co.ukhttp://www.speedbirdonline.co.uk/airbus.htmlhttp://www.bavirtual.co.uk
