airbus 330 and 340, Really long take off runs

Hi allI thought I posted this question but I cant find it so Im repostingI find that when I fly the airbus, the 330 in particular , that it takes forever to get off the runwayI set everything up per the book in the mdcu ( I think!), and flaps to 1+f and Take off is confirmed Normal. Power set to flxBut the "TO inhibit" light is on and it takes forever to get off the ground. I read in the forum that it is due to trim errors, but I corrected that and it did not work for me. The TO Inhibit message should be on, it means that warnings you don't need and that would be a distraction are inhibited until after takeoff.Where are you taking off from and what is your ZFW and block fuel? It could be that you are very heavy at a high altitude airport. If you adjust your weights in the Fuel and Payload section of FS and make some big changes from what is there already it would be a good idea to save and reload that aircraft. The reason is that the weights in the aircraft.cfg file are not updated dynamically. You might also wish to adjust the pitch trim to something like -1.8UP or -2.0UP. Call up the F/CTRL page on the lower ECAM and using your End and Home keys adjust the pitch trim (shown in the middle of the lower ECAM).I also recommend that if you haven't got them already you get the Bob Scott revised flight dynamics for the A330/A340 from the User Edits area of the PSS website.The A340 does actually take a ong time to takeoff in the real world - rather underpowered!Rob Elliott, EGPE InvernessPSS Airbus Support andAirbus Fleet Training Captain, British Airways Virtual airbus@speedbirdonline.co.ukhttp://www.speedbirdonline.co.uk/airbus.htmlhttp://www.bavirtual.co.uk

Is that also true of the 330. A few posts ago in this thread a suggestion was to change the flight dynamics per the user edits on the pss siteDo you know if that change makes the aircraft more or less realistic.?Thanks for the humor.Pete

Definitely recommended.I tried them and I find now with the 340 that the aircraft comes off the runway nicely , ( pitch adjusted with trim ). But I find the aircraft way more sensitive to stalls . A couple of comments here: if you have too much pitch trim you will find that on takeoff the speed will drop back. What you want to do is to find the right amount of pitch trim to keep the aircraft around the V2+10 mark (shown as the magenta triangle on the speed tape).You must pay close attention to V2+10. On take off you mustn't shoot through it to a faster speed. If you do, as soon as you engage autopilot the computers will command a sharp pitch up to bring the speed back to V2+10. Yes you have the V2 speed from the PERF page of the MCDU. The V2+10 is shown for you as a triangle in magenta on the speed tape of the PFD. But to make sure the correct speeds are shown on your PFD, including V2+10, you should left click (press) the speed knob on the glareshield after you have set your vspeeds in the MCDU. The speed window will then show ---.In the first image below, V2 is set in the PERF page of the MCDU. As part of your problem, I think the MCDU-calculated V speeds are too high. Try using TPC (http://www.fsip200x.com/tpc.htm) to calculate your V speeds and enter them manually in the MCDU. A VR of 173 is really high - you could be climbing out at that speed! My two cents...Alden

I was the one with the Vr of 173 in that particular A340-300 flight and screenshot and I have no problems whatsoever with the Airbus. The climbout is at 183 = V2+10. It is Peter who is reporting problems and he hasn't said what his VR is. For an A340 a Vr of 150-173 at a moderate weight is quite normal. 173 is on the high side but not unusual.I don't really like TPC as the developer, despite being told, did not take into account the flex programming error by PSS which necessitates a minus figure in the flex temp.Rob Elliott, EGPE InvernessPSS Airbus Support andAirbus Fleet Training Captain, British Airways Virtual airbus@speedbirdonline.co.ukhttp://www.speedbirdonline.co.uk/airbus.htmlhttp://www.bavirtual.co.uk

The link from the PSS site reports that the file no longer exists. Can anybody who knows where to get it please help me or can someone who has it email it to me please! Seetella
