Airbus autopilot modes

I have a question relating to the Airbus Pro series autopilot, please.Is it possible to set it up so that (1) altitude is controlled by the a/p and (2) speed is controlled by the autothrottle but (3) heading is left entirely in the hands of the pilot so that he can use his yoke or joystick to manually fly to heading?At this stage in my learning process I seem to be stuck with a straight choice between (a) managed hdg mode (:( select mode, which allows me only to set heading by turning the knob and © dispensing with the a/p altogether.This came home to me when I was trying to circle to land at Innsbruck (LOWI) runway 8 -- not the easiest approach in the world (!) and one where some assisted hands-on flying would have been very welcome.

the pilot side-stick control of heading and a/p control of altitude cannot be done.autopilot must control heading & altitude or nothing.--
