Airbus 330 and 340; same type as Airbus Pro?

Recommended Posts

I have the Airbus Pro series for the A319/320/321. They are nice aircraft, but obviously FS2002 modified for FS2004. Everything works well, but the transition from waypoint to waypoint is a little abrupt, and the graphics, etc. are a little dated. I am contemplating purchasing the Pss A330/340 series. Was just wondering if they are the same (same type of performance as the Airbus Pro series and graphics), or if they are a little more advanced and smoother. Can anyone let me know? Thanks.

It's difficult for me to give an un-biased opinion and others will hopefully give a view, but for me the A330 and A340 are very nice aircraft to fly. I think you will find that many aspects of them have similar characteristics to the A320 family. The panels of course are altered to reflect the differences over the A320 family but for me the graphics quality is about the same. I suspect that the panels were a revision of the A320 ones rather than being written from scratch. There are issues with the flight dynamics but if you get the Robert Scott updated cfg and air files they make a huge improvement. They are available from either the user edits section of the PSS website or from my personal website at http://www.strathview.net/files.htmlEven with the improved flight dynamics I think the turns at waypoints are still a little fierce as this is a product of coding in the gauge file which we can't adjust. Again I suspect many elements of the A320 family gauge file were used with the A330/A340.The MCDU is exactly the same as with the A320 but then this is the case with the rw version so no surprise there.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/180524.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/180525.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/180526.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/180523.jpgRob Elliott, EGPE InvernessPSS Airbus Support andAirbus Fleet Training Captain, British Airways Virtual airbus@speedbirdonline.co.ukhttp://www.speedbirdonline.co.uk/airbus.htmlhttp://www.bavirtual.co.uk

Thanks for the reply, Rob. I certainly don't have anything against the Airbus Pro family. Like you say, the turns are a little fierce, but I can live with that. At least the MCDU adjusts the TOD when you make changes to the FP, unlike another manufacturer. And the PSS support is great. Guess I will be getting the PSS models. Thanks, Rob.
