ILS landing Airbus A320

Recommended Posts

Guest theo456

Hi everybody,I am flying the Airbus A320 from PSS. I have an issue when doing a full automatic ILS approach (AP1+2).The aircraft is aligned to the right of the field and I need to disconnect the autopilot and land manually. Is this a known issue and does somebody know how to fix it?I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the software with no result.Thank you for your help

Last year there was one other pilot who always seemed to have this problem at whichever airport/runway he flew to. I will have a look through my notes but I don't think I got to the bottom of it.Rob Elliott, EGPE InvernessPSS Airbus Support andAirbus Fleet Training Captain, British Airways Virtual airbus@speedbirdonline.co.ukhttp://www.speedbirdonline.co.uk/airbus.htmlhttp://www.bavirtual.co.uk

Have you tried to let the craft do it's thing and finish the approach?Quite often it will seem to the right, but come right in on target. Try it.$

No there was a definite problem with the other pilot and it seems to be the same symptoms here. What I have found is that it might be the magnetic declination file that has somehow got corrupted possibly after a crash to desktop. It then seems to affect some add-on aircraft that refer to it.The file is called magdec.bgl and lives in the /Scenery/BASE/Scenery folder. Assuming you don't want to go hunting for the original file on the FS9 disk 3, you'll find an updated magdec file in the avsim library. The direct link is http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=95244 and it might be worth a try (keep a copy of the original). Although I haven't had this problem I have installed the file from avsim and it doesn't cause any unexpected problems and might just be the solution here.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/180568.jpgRob Elliott, EGPE InvernessPSS Airbus Support andAirbus Fleet Training Captain, British Airways Virtual airbus@speedbirdonline.co.ukhttp://www.speedbirdonline.co.uk/airbus.htmlhttp://www.bavirtual.co.uk

Thank you Rob for your quick reaction.I have done what you suggested and it has improved. In fact when approaching on autoland the aircraft is still to the right of the field but then it converges slowly towards the runway threshold, but when landing it is not in line.To avoid the problem I manually stabilise the plane on the ILS and then I select the autoland. In this case the plane stays aligned and land normally. Weird isn't it?I use 3 add ons from PSS : Airbus A330/340, Airbus 320 family and Boeing 757 and I must say I only have the issue with the 320 family.Anyway thank you so much for your help.
