A few problems on the tutorial flight

Recommended Posts

I just ran the tutorial flight as recommended with the default flight set up first. Some things didn't happen as advertised, or appear wrong (in the order I found them, not in any priority).1. With NO SMOKING signs ON, selecting SEAT BELTS to AUTO from OFF (on ground, pre flight) caused a ding sound, but EICAS did not indicate seat belts were on (status only showed NO SMOKING). WIth gear and flaps down, AUTO should put the seat belt signs on, showing PASS SIGNS ON on EICAS. Bacically this is true throughout the flight, auto never the seat belt signs on according to EICAS, though it sometimes creates a ding sound as if it had.2. Upper EICAS switched to ND, flap indication is not inhibited when flaps are up.3. On takeoff, the crosswind pushed the aircraft off the runway centreline and there was no way to correct this. In reality the aircraft should initially tend to turn into wind, but keep straight as the speed builds with a slight tendency to lift the upwind wing.3. T/C and the range arc showing top of climb indicate drastically different predictions until you get close to the selected altitude.4. Selecting AIR page on the lower EICAS) should also put pressurisation summary data on the upper EICAS. In the sim, it only does this if you display the lower EICAS on the ND.5. LOC capture very unstable. Aircraft oscillated laterally all the way down the glideslope.6. After touchdown there was no rollout control. The aircraft ended up off to the right of 24R in the grass.Generally though the 777 is rock solid and flies smoothly manually and under AP control. It doesn't behave well in crosswinds though. I hope PSS pay attention to the various comments about missing system operation, but overall it's a very impressive sim. Kevin
