Learjet Autopilot

I am finding the autopilot on the Lear to be very stubborn to engage. Is there a specific command sequence which is required to activate the autopilot, or is there perhaps a minimum altitude or speed requirement?

Do you have trouble with the autopilot on other aircraft?I use 'Z' on the keyboard to turn on the autopilot. Then 'CTRL+Z' for ALT HLD, 'CTRL+H' for HDG HOLD.Tripp

Thanks! That helps, at least a little. The Lear autopilot does respond to keyboard commands, but unlike other aircraft, it seems to ignore instrument panel commands. I experienced similar problems on the Caravan.

Are you clicking the 2D panel or the virtual panel? The 2D panel should accept mouse clicks. R-

Not familiar with nomenclature of "2D" panel, but I am refering to the mouse sensitive positions such as ALT, IAS, HDG, etc. They will light up upon mouse hit, but not activate the corresponding autopilot functions. Interestingly, when I use keyboard commands, the functions seemingly are activated, but I forfeit all of the pre-entered autopilot flight data. Similarly, the ALT function doesn't always limit maximum climb. I just experienced a 45,000 ft climb on a 200 nm trip. Could just be my pilot inexperience, but I am trying to expand my horizons beyond just driving the 172 from Meigs to Ohare!
