Serious 777 Flight control problem.

Recommended Posts

I do a full 'cold & dark' startup, make sure everything is up and running correctly, Hydraulics are all on, taxi to the active and get this. This would look like an autopilot problem but I haven't turned it on...http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/133027.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/133028.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/133029.jpgI can move all the controls in the sim with the yoke but they have zero effect on lining everything back up again. Trim no longer works as well to get the horizontal stabilizers level... I have to reload the whole aircraft to get proper contol restored...

Hi Dillon,I have not encountered the problem you are showing here with the B777, but I did experience it with another addon I have, with the rudder also being out of alignment.I can not remember for the life of me how I "fixed" the problem, but I do remember that another addon utility I was running had something to do with it.I will get back to you as soon as I can. I am assuming that you have the proper default aircraft set up as explained in other posts.Stevewww.auspilot.comhttp://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/26/26_11_8.gifhttp://www.avsim.com/pss/banner_sc.jpg

This is crazy, I had the same problem with the PSS A320 but that was on landing and the autopilot wouldn't shut off resulting in what you see above (once the Airbus's wheels touched the ground)... :-(

Dillon,As I said I was trying to find a solution for you and the others users that have had this occurrence.I have been unable to replicate this on my system, and have not seen it with the A3xx series either.A suggestion: Cycle the Flight Director switch, making sure the autopilot is unarmed.Stevewww.auspilot.comhttp://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/26/26_11_8.gifhttp://www.avsim.com/pss/banner_sc.jpg

How many times has this been reported??? Maybe me and the others have something in common with our setups. What's ironic is this has the same hallmarks as the problem I was having with the A320. Once the airplane is in this situation there's nothing you can do to restore control. There must be something common in PSS's programming that's causing this problem pared with other add-ons. Steve do you know of any add-ons/utilities that aren't compatible or would pose a problem with PSS's aircraft? There must be a list somewhere... I've only seen something like this with PSS's work. None of my other add-ons have a problem...

Hey I'm still confirming this but the problem seems to happen when I have FDC (Flight Deck Companion) loaded. I don't know if you have this program but if you do try loading it up with the PSS 777 and choose the default 777 scheme. If this is indeed the problem I wonder what feature in FDC the 777 is having problems with.Again if FDC in indeed the problem maybe you guys at PSS can add various callouts with the upcoming patch. What FDC does (among other things) is give you a co-pilot with callouts to better simulate an Airliner environment. You guys can add callouts to the 777 alleviating the need for an extra program of this type. Things like engine start/shutdown, flap position, and V-Speed callouts would work wonders for this 777 simulation (especially on landing and takeoff). I was surprised to find this package lacking callouts completely...Oh Well, I need to test more to see what's going on. Either way callouts is almost a must these days with airliner add-ons. I hope you guys concider the feature to help us all out with flying this bird... :-)I'll keep you informed as to what I find with FDC...

Steve thanks for the help... :-) It turns out the problem I'm having is with FDC. I've found a way to cure the problem and still use FDC with the 777 so I'm happy. I just did my first long haul flight successfully. This is a great add-on...Thanks again.

DillonGrateful if you would pass on how you resolved it. I had the same problem occasionally with the A320 series and never really resolved it. But I did use S-Combo - a predecessor to FDC - and would like to carry on using it with the 777.Many thanksJohn Rooum

At this point John I just don't use the 'Taxi' checks. I haven't figured out what problem

Hello again,I was able to solve this by recalibrating my (CH Products) joystick. Not with FSUIPC but with the menu within FS. I did it right after loading the flight and powering up the aircraft.Regards,David
