"Non-bobbing" flight by previous "bobber"

Recommended Posts

I gave Bob Sdott's suggestion a try and it works pretty well. First, I ran the Excel sheet and reduced just the passenger load to 50%. I then loaded all the baggage into container 1, and loaded 91,589 pounds of fuel into the -200LR for my flight KCLE-KLAX (50% in all tanks, 0% in the center tank). This gave me a COG of 16.80% (I guess we round up since the FMC only takes two digits). I then modified my aircraft.cfg file weight and balance section. See below.// ACM V2.5max_gross_weight = 766800empty_weight = 320000reference_datum_position = 0, 0, 0empty_weight_CG_position = 0, 0, 0empty_weight_pitch_MOI = 17631459empty_weight_roll_MOI = 7533629empty_weight_yaw_MOI = 18421453empty_weight_coupled_MOI = 0max_number_of_stations = 14station_load.0 = 900, 96.95, 0, 4.12, Cockpit Crewstation_load.1 = 1080, 10, 0, 0, Cabin Crewstation_load.2 = 1440, 70, 0, 0, First Classstation_load.3 = 5220, 55, 0, 0, Business Classstation_load.4 = 7200, 15, 0, 0, Coach Y1station_load.5 = 13140, -10, 0, 0, Coach Y2station_load.6 = 11270, 40, 0, 0, Containers P. 1 (FRT)station_load.7 = 500.0, 10, 0, 0, Containers P. 2 (FRT/MAIL)station_load.8 = 0.0, -25, 0, 0, Containers P. 3 (BGGE)station_load.9 = 0.0, -65, 0, 0, Containers P. 4 (BGGE)station_load.10 = 200, -70, 0, 0, Bulk Cargo P. 5 (BULK)station_load.11 = 242, 20, 0, 0, Mealsstation_load.12 = 139, 20, 0, 0, Potable Waterstation_load.13 = 0, 20, 0, 0, Lav ServiceI chose FL360 for an initial altitude. The FMC then suggested FL400 for later in the flight. The climb was uneventful and I leveled off at 360 very little bobbing. The stabilizer values (DISP-FTCL) bounced between 8.27 and 8.35. The visual model only showed bobbing at 4X simulation rate. Climbing to FL400 caused no problems.So, while this did not "cure" the problem, it made flying a lot more enjoyable.Thanks to Bob Scott!
