Autothrust behaviour

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,Until now, for takeoff I've been arming the A/T (left click on the A/T arm switch) then advancing the thrust levers to 70% N1 then fully forward, the A/T system limits the engines to the maximum N1 for the selected phase of flight. In other words I am not using the TOGA function by right clicking on the switches. Now over the course of 4 flights this has worked 'fine' and I haven't noticed any issues, once the CLB reduction occurs the thrust is managed without error right down to A/T disconnect at 500 feet on final. My questions are: What differences exist between my method and the use of the TOGA function? Am I risking any issues in using my method? Is my method used in any real-world context?Cheers

That sounds about right as far as advancing to 70% first, however, after that I have always used TOGA, I know there was one user on this forum that had a problem after takeoff with the A/T if he appliyed takeoff power using your method, when he when to use FLCH or SPD, I believe.
