Capturing localizer not happening.

Recommended Posts

Hello John,Never had a problem capturing the LOC and haven't seen anyone report it yet I am afraid. What process are you going through?Have you confirmed the ILS freq through the RAD/NAV page?Does the 'mini LOC and GS' dots appear above and to the right of the PFD?Does the ILS ident appear to the top left of the PFD?http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c390/BTr.../phxbanner2.jpg

Hi MichaelYes on the rad/nav page shows correct freq and says PARK, then when in range Park turns to A for auto. The white dots appear but no megenta diamonds. The ident appears in white in the top left of pfd.Now it works for some airports with no problem and others nothing at all happens.Im making sure im at the proper altitude for the airport also. Here is a weird one on this, I sometimes capture KLAS 28R and press the APP button, get the magenta diamonds and the plane controls and keeps the megenta diamond in the center of the white dots and all of a sudden the diamonds just dissapear.Im suspecting a conflict with addon stuff and FSUIPC.I have active sky 2004 , fshotseatfx , and FSnavigator running on in FS9.Ive reinstalled the plane several times and deleted FSUIPC.Ive reloaded FS9 and not used the active sky and fshotseatfx. The part that has me confused is that all other addon planes work on every airport with ILS systems.Another weird thing is with the fmc. When I finish a flight and land I get the route complete on the bottom of the fmc. When I then reload another flight plan into the fmc and try another flight the fmc starts out in the descent mode and skips the climb and cruise. When I take off and set the auto pilot the plane just descends into the ground. The only way to reset the fmc is to load another plane and then back to the 777. John

I am having serious trouble capturing the ILS. In fact, the last time I landed I had to manually pull it into the beam after it deflected almost 50 degrees right. And then, even after that, it showed a perfect alignment, but was as cockeyed as it could be...going down the glideslope perfectly, but the runway was 10 degrees to my left. I had to hand fly it. Three flights, three repeats.Wilson Hineshttp://www.redeyeexpress.nethttp://www.united-virtual.com --------------------------------------http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpghttp://online.vatsimindicators.net/837438/3074.png

Hello Wilson :),As well as trying the tutorial and letting us know how that gets along we'll concentrate on JFK.Does the ILS information provided in the CDU match the procedure (ie freq and course?)Do you have any other PSS products - if so how do they fly the ILS?How do default aircraft fly the ILS?I'll try it when I get home as well and note down my information as well.Other option don't fly to any of those place - I hear EGNM is nice ;)http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c390/BTr.../phxbanner2.jpg

I think the issue is how close and how lined up you need to be to capture it, I have to be very close to the runway and very much lined up in order to capture the ILS, all other addon planes will capture it and a much broader distance and deflection of the runway course, I mentioned this before, maybe the ILS cature is far too narrow with the 777

OK, agreed Michael, lets focus on KFJK - Also, Phoenix this is a "report back."I carefully read the tutorial and figured out the problem from this end. You have to be at the second dot on the ILS before you annuctiate. That is too narrow IMHO. Also, the story with the Airbus Pro Series and the A330/340 series as well as the old PSS 777-200 for FS 2k and 2k2 as well as the PSS 747-400 are all the same as far as I know: I always annunctiated the LOC at just outside the beam, about 22nm; but if I remember right, the old 747 or old 777 tutorial said to hit the LOC below 10,000 ft (I may be wrong there, but I have read that somewhere, never really did that, however). Anyway, I always hit my button at about 22nm out and slighty under what the IAP calls for. For example, if it calls for 3000 ft at the top, I come in at 2800 ft. Oh and yes, the CDU and the ILS were matching on the freqs. As far as what default ask for, who knows, I haven't flown a default a/c since 2k2.Wilson Hineshttp://www.redeyeexpress.nethttp://www.united-virtual.com --------------------------------------http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpghttp://online.vatsimindicators.net/837438/3074.png

Hello Wilson,Which runway are you shooting and what heading are you flying to intercept the ILS?How far out are you attempting to establish? What speed are you doing when you attempt to establish? What config (gear/flaps/ext) are you in?(Sorry if these seem silly and novice questions but it rules out some things for me :))http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c390/BTr.../phxbanner2.jpg

The following was with the successful capture with no hard right turns after annunctiating the LOC button.1 22L KJFK2 Just before the outer marker.3 160 kts.4 15 and no gear.Michael, read my previous post, I answered what you have to do: you must be within the 2nd dot on the LOC to capture successfully. >Hello,>>Just reducing the possibilites and sorry if this sounds rude,>but it's definatly an ILS runway and not just a back course.>>Similarly I can't find an ILS at KLAS for 28R (well my chart>says 25R)?>The chart in that case is corrct. KLAS does not have a 28R. It is 25L and 25R and 25R is the runway with ILS.
