Add-on FMS/FMC 's

Anyone remember EFIS98 or NAVSTAR 99? I used both with FS98 and FS2000. Does anyone make something similar for 2002? It was great the way you could add a FMS to aircraft that didn't have an aviliable payware solution (PSS, PIC, DF, etc). I really miss them when flying the CSI MD-11's. That MS GPS just kills the whole feeling. Or has anyone ever had any luck with incorporating a payware FMS gauge into a freeware panel?

NavStar 99 works with FS2k2All you need to do is go into the panel editor and change the FS path from FS2000 to FS2002 and then relaunch the Panel editor. Once it starts up, select FS2000 from the two choices and it will load the panel from FS2002.You still cannot use the moving map, but the FMC works fine, as well as it did in FS2000.I am disappointed in how David just gave up on NavStar 99 after the first database update and no longer offers tech support but yet, he still sells NavStar on his website.JP

I remember EFIS98. I still use it with FS2K2. Not of course the FMC aspect of it since that is incompatible with FS2K2, but the EFIS98 full screen flight planner that is far better than the letter box slot of the MS planner. The EFIS planner allows me to create circles of custom waypoints that I can include in my default FS2K2 GPS flight plans. Those circles allow the creation of curved flight tracks.Ideally I would like a program that would interface with the MS autopilot and enable it to control vertical flight from within an MS flight plan in addition to the lateral control that is currently possible. As I am retired I have the time to have a shot at this except, I would not know where to start.If some programming guru would point me in the right direction, no detailed instructions, just whether or not the idea is at all feasible and if so which programming languages might be necessary, I might make a start. If nothing else, should I not succeed (most likely outcome) then at least the time spent trying will be time I will not be hanging about street corners making my home town look untidy.Denis. EFIS2000 is the same as EFIS98, I think the only difference is an later version of the Nav database.Regards.Ernie.

I've lost track of my Navstar download, I tried just copying it across but it dosen't work. However, I found the FMC included in Airport 2000 Vol3 works well in 2002.

Hi, if you can live without vertical guidance (VNAV) and would be satisfied with lateral navigation, there are three good, universal instruments/addons on the market. RealityXP offers the flight line avionics based on the real Apollo hardware which utilizes FS2002 flight plans.
