Tokyo Narita (RJAA) departure

Recommended Posts

Several users reported VNAV problems when departing from RJAA. Here are some screenshots of what I see when flying CHOSH1 departure from Rwy 34L in a fully loaded 300ER with 250,000 lbs FOB, CG at 25%.Let's fly it by hand for a bit. http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/146853.jpgEverything looks ok. Let's see Otto in action.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/146854.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/146855.jpgA.G.

My problem is in the 777-200. I have not tried this in the 300. Soon as the A/P is turned on and VNAV is engaged, straight to the ground it goes...Also, this departure calls for you to fly over the NRT 6DME point, but the plane always wants to quickly after takeoff.

Works same way on 200.>Also, this departure calls for you to fly over the NRT 6DME>point, but the plane always wants to quickly after takeoff. Leo or Ron would probably the best persons to chime in on this. My understanding is that you would have to fly vectors (HDG SEL) to that wpt 6 DME off Narita to comply with the departure procedure and engage LNAV afterwards. I think the sharpness of the turn is what throws LNAV off in this case and makes it turn so early. But I wouldn't bet my head on this hypothesis.Adam
