"GFFX Ultra is No More" grab your collector board now

Hi all,A ton of reputable buzz coming from the industry this week has been about the GeForce-FX Ultra - or rather, the lack thereof. Its looking like the 500/500 board will never make it to retail... Not a surprise that the NV30 wouldn't last long, but a surprise that the Ultra wouldn't even make it to retail. Here's a quote from HardOCP] today:"As we noted here earlier this week, the GeForceFX 5800 Ultra will never make it to retail. Those of you that PreBuy the cards will still get an Ultra model with the FX Flow cooling unit. Those who don't will have the opportunity to get the non-Ultra version (400/800) off the retail shelves for a price of US$300.00. This information is unconfirmed at this time, but has been what we have been told repeatedly by different sources since Tuesday of this week. Anyone have a working and complete Voodoo5 6000 version 3 or better they want to trade for a working v1.1 GFFX 5800 Ultra? Drop me a line. Also, at this time it seems that the BFGTech GFFX Ultra is still for sale through Best Buy. Get'um while they are hot...not that they ever won't be."[/iWhile still wholly unconfirmed by NVidia, this news is looking more and more credible every day. I was sure the NV30 wouldn't last on the market for long (moving quickly to NV35 was almost guaranteed), but I sure didn't think it wouldn't last long enough to actually hit retail! Get em while they're available for pre-order ladies and gents, cause these look destined to be collectors items.Or, its a nefarious plan by NVidia to sell a whack-load of pre-orders! One never knows in this nutso industry... :-wink2Take care,Elrond
