A new milestone...

One of the reasons I bought the 777LR was because I kept reading stories about how it is capable to fly from any point in the world to any other point in the world non stop. So I bought it with the intention of sometime doing a real time flight from London to Sydney. That was a few months ago. I finally completed that flight yesterday. Took off from EGLL at about 1000Z, flew the wwhole trip, while at my PC with the ocassional bathroom break and meal break, in real time and landed at YSSY at 1816 sydney time. Roughly 20 hours later. Got no sleep and my wife thinks I am crazy. It really is kind of a depressing feeling when I started descending and preparing for the landing. When I finally landed, realizing the whole thing was over, I didn't even want to close the program down. I had a few mishaps. A little turbulence over Asia, 2 TCAS warnings with some other Vatsimmers and a near miss with a Cessna 172 on final approach to YSSY who was doing circuits.Truly an amazing aircraft.Goran

I wanted a full load because I thought I could do it, but the fuel planner said I would be overweight. My final configuration was:2 cockpit crew4 1st class passengers3 cabin crew13 business classNone in economy3960lb of passengers2452lbs of cargoZFW was 326412I was still slightly overloaded but I burnt that fuel off in the startup and taxi.Goran

Many times I thought about quitting the flight. I had the cursor hoverring over the X in the top right hand corner, but I thought I might not have the chance to do this for a while. I kept at it. I was chatting to other simmers on the vatsim network, getting them to keep me awake. My next challenge is a season of the amazing race. I want to do the entire amazing race from season 5 because I think that was the longest one. 72000 miles. The 2nd longest trip I made was Heathrow to San Francisco as done on the ITVV DVD. About 10 hours but that was a while ago. Goran

I think over Europe. I was too tired to remember.3rd one was over the northern territory/Queensland border4th one was over Central Asia with a nice sunriseNo prizes for guessing that last location.I might do it again on FSX but with someone else online with this new technology inside FSX where 2 simmers can pilot one plane.Goran
