Question on autopilot?

Recommended Posts

Good airmanship dictates the following;1. Only disengage at a safe height - the aircraft might be out of trim or there might be a control blip as the AP comes out.2. Give yourself time to settle on the controls before you have to make any critical manoeuvres.3. Think about aircraft performance and weather etc etc.I suspect individual air lines have there own SOP but for me I would let the AP do the hard part and get the aircraft established on the ILS in the approach configuration. Then disengage around 1200 - 1000 ft so that all I have to do is to follow a stabilised ILS descent.Good LuckJohn RooumPS. Please sign your name as per forum guidelines.
