Looking at their Practise Route Posting, I think it would be a good idea to get some practise in Austria's and Switzerland's Alps. I have the feeling Lugano might be strong favourite in the official route. Now the baton is getting over the ocean to the USA, we could do some practise without the baton there (LSZA), or some other tough fields in the Alps (like Samedan). I have approach charts for Lugano. What do you think?Jozef K. http://homepages.onsnet.nu/~jkusters/signature.jpg

Jozef,Agree that we should do some Alps work. I also think we need to head back towards Australia and do some route work for South Pacific crossing. How far can we go without having to use our wildcard.I'll plan on doing some Alps work on-line tomorrow (while the Concorde crew is blasting across the Atlantic) if anyone is interested.Jeff

Jeff,Good idea's. I'll see wether I can join. Depends a little bit on the plans which my better half might have for the Sunday.Anyway, you can get good approach charts for airfields all over the world (even for Samedan, or Lugano) at http://usa-w.vatsim.net/charts/How does that wildcard work? And to where is that South Pacific crossing. It it the intention to get from Australia to South America in 2 hours legs?Jozef K. http://homepages.onsnet.nu/~jkusters/signature.jpg

wildcards give a team the option to fly one or more (depending on the rules) legs of over 2 hours in order to do things that wouldn't otherwise be possible. We used one in 2004 to bypass the dangerous Aleuthan airports and fly directly from Kamchatka to Vancouver for example. I think last year we used one to cross the Atlantic from South America to Africa.Gives you more flexibility in route planning, else everyone'd be restricted to one or two routes because of airport availability.
