Setting the clock to real-time.

"You must fly in real-time. In other words, your flight simulator clock, when you are flying in your home time zone, must be set to read the same as your desktop clock" (from the Race Rules)As I most of the time are probably not flying in my home time zone, what is the best way to set the FS clock to the proper race time? Hi Josef,The important things is that when the baton is in say India, the simulator must reflect "India Time," when in France, "France Time" etc. Therefore, if you set your aircraft up to fly in your own time zone, the sun will set in FS at roughly the same time that it is setting outside your window.

If you set GMT time in FS to current GMT time it will always reflect the correct local time as well (within a few minutes as the FS clock doesn't run quite at the same speed as the rotation of this dirtball we call home).The Netherlands are currently at GMT+1, so set GMT (the right time field in the date/time window) to 1 hour before your own time and you've set it correctly.

Yup, I know that GMT is 6 hours ahead of my own time, so I just make sure my FS's GMT time setting is 6 hours ahead of my own. Whatever timezone I'm in at the time will therefore always be correct within the limitations of FS's timezone mapping..... (which is incorrect in many places...)
