minor correction in the attached test data - fuel amount was 'wrong' in the cruise power section of the performance sheet! Attaching a corrected version - the one, I was referencing in the first post above on my own server, got also 'fixed'!Tom 'Gnoopey' Kohlerhttp://gnoopey.dyndns.org:8000/images/B-29/SFM-slogo.jpg--

Greetings Tom,Speaking for myself, I have no objections to certifying this aircraft for the race provided it passes race committee review of performance tolarances. Sounds like you have done a lot of work on this bird. Why do you prefer the RB-50 over the B-29?Jeff Williams

Hi Jeff,a good question that requires perhaps some more words to answer :)If I read your question "Why do you prefer the RB-50(F) over the B-29 (for RTW race mode purposes)?"That's easy - the RB-50F was the fastest of the Superfortresses with:- only piston engines- the 'old' style bombardier nose from the B-29She was about 40-45 mph TAS faster than any ordinary B-29 and about 35-40 mph faster than the fastest B-29's.If I read and understand your question without any interpretation, my answer would be ...I do not prefer the RB-50 over the B-29 :)The B-29 was and still is my first 'love' as a modeler / 'toy-maker' for flight simulator. It had so many firsts as technical achievements in this machine, that it was and is amazing for a technical guy like me.While the B-50 is a member of the 'family' and the successor to the B-29, representing a member of the absolute 'peak' of piston engine development in aircraft construction history, it doesn't has the same 'style' as the B-29 IMO ;) If I would have had more time, I would have done a TB-50H as the absolute fastest of the Superfortress family with pistons only. But then I would have had to also construct the B-50D style glass nose section ... perhaps next year ;)sincerely,Tom 'Gnoopey' Kohlerhttp://gnoopey.dyndns.org:8000/images/B-29/SFM-slogo.jpg--if it ain't broke, don't fix it
