What is FMYDT

Recommended Posts

This is the first "fix" given in the most used (flightaware.com) flight plans between KMCO (Orlando FL) and KHOU (Hobby): FMYDT PIE REMIS Q100 LEV MHF1. I can't figure out what it is, it is not a fix according the airnav database and it's not a DP for KMCO (I've got all those). The flight paths depart SW from the airport and then turn W towards the PIE VOR. Anyone know or have a clue?

Hi,, My name is Gary and I am a real world pilot of 21 years. I have your answer sir. FMYDT is a navigational waypoint, however the reason you can not find it is because it is a waypoint that is created by request of a COMMERCIAL AIRLINE. The airlines pay comapanies that create charts and routes to make a "special route" for them. These request is specific to airline needs usually because of aircraft size, weight, climb out abilites and because it is a loud aircraft and special noise abadment proceedures need to be observed. Sometimes, certain departures SIDS exceed a aircrafts ablilities, so the airline may request that a special route be made for them out of a city with the final approval of the FAA. FMYDT is still in use today,, it is a waypoint NOT A VOR that is plotted using GPS coordinates and is only printed on a SID chart for that specific airline, all other charts available to general and private aviation pilots will NOT reflect this FMYDT intersection. Not all airlines use it, but it is available to them. I hope this helps,,,, any Q's,,, please email me,, xiaobarbar@yahoo.com
