Twokayfour (a.k.a. effessnine ) ATC

I imagine that most, if not all, of the features are now frozen to permit an early summer release.Anyway, one easy (well, easy for me to ask anyway ;)) issue I'd like to see addressed is ATC acceptance of the IFR flightplan to the end. Instead of vectoring IFR planes long before entering the arrival area, messing up everything, I hope the controller will now direct us to fly the STAR including altitude crossing requirements that we lovingly put into our planning. Same of course for departures. An alternate solution would be that DPs and IAPs and STARs been scripted for every (or least some of the larger)airport. But that's daydreaming for the time being isn't it ?Dominique

It's indeed very easy to say, but very hard to implement. Plus you'd need a global SID and STAR database (which people will of course demand is updated for free by Microsoft with every cycle).SIDs and STARs aren't required at all. They're used in the real world only when ATC does not provide direct vectoring (which in the real world will usually follow the SID or STAR, but not necessarilly), the controller commands ALWAYS take precedence over charts.

How about the ability to edit the routes AI traffic and ATC controlled traffic take between airports? In FS2002 AI traffic flies a great circle route between the departure and destination. On departure it gets vectored onto the great circle track, and on arrival ATC starts vectoring somewhere between 50 and 100 nm from the destination. The only difference between the AI traffic and player controlled aircraft here is that the player doesn't have to fly a great circle route.A good compromise between having a world-wide updateable SID, STAR, approach and route database, and having FS2002's dumb system, would be the ability to edit the routes for individual airports. For example you might specify that all aircraft flying between airport A and B should fly a specific route (with different altitudes for different types of aircraft of course), or that all aircraft arriving at airport A from, say, the northeast should all fly the same arrival route. To make it more flexible, you could specify that a certain departure or arrival should be on own navigation, and that others should use vectors from/to a certain point.Another feature that I think could easily be implented, while I'm at the subject of artificial ATC, is not being cleared to your filed altitude immediately, but only to the ceiling of the current controller's airspace, and then being cleared higher by the next controller.Martin767 fetishistIt's a lot like life and that's what's appealing
