Question...

Recommended Posts

I take off from EGLL, everything by the book as far as I can tell. The airport surely isn't at 4000ft ASL.Passing 10,000ft, I don't hear the FO callout.Anyone shed some light on this one?Otherwise, a GREAT product! As a sidenote, maybe in futures updates, some generic airport sounds could be incorporated? Sometimes when sitting on the airport and waiting, I really feel alone...And something else, is there a way to change the volume of the voices in FS2CREW? Sometimes I find the sounds much too silent!

Hello Word Not Allowed,Thank you for the kind words. There is no reason why the FO's "Flight Attendants Passing 10,000" call should not be played in England in the vicinity of 10,000 feet. See if you can reproduce it. It might be your sound card or something as no one else is having this problem or perhaps you couldn't hear it over other sounds being played because they're too loud.Volume: Your best bet is to turn down some of the sliders in the FS2004 Sounds menu. That'll help ensure FS2Crew's sound come in loud and clear. Your other sounds are probably just drowing them out.Cheers,-Bryan

Hello Bryan,Thanks for your reply.I tried the *same* flight twice, training purposes, and on both flights I didn't hear a thing at that point, I paid very good attention. How should I check if I can reproduce it?I'll try again with the FS sounds turned down a notch.

I looked at the code to see what (relevant) conditions need to be met for the sound to play:1. Your vertical speed needs to be greater than 300 fpm. Perhaps you're levelling at 10,000 feet?2. The Time to Departure must be zero. That's the time visible in the top right hand corner on the Receiving Page, etc, that indicates the time left until the cabin is ready for departure.Did you try to skip the pre-departure events?3. Note that for the altitude, FS2Crew uses the "ALT FROM BAROMETIC PRESSURE" variable from the MSFS SDK to determine when you're passing 10,000 feet. This variable doesn't seem to take into consideration what you have set in the Alt Window (ie., QNE), so you may get the call shortly before or after passing 10,000 feet (FL100) as indicated on the face of your Altimeter.Cheers,Bryan

No, nothing skipped. As I said, by the book (tutorial flight), just I flew my own flight (EGLL-EHAM).And no, I didn't level off. It was continuous climb to FL250.I'll try another flight when I get the chance.

Bryan, yesterday, I again tried yet another flight, now from LOWS to LOWW. Everything again as usual... Receiving aircraft, before start, taxi, bto/to/ato, performing all checklists, setting all that needs to be set...Still no FO 10,000ft announcement.I must say though, I didn't check if my VS was higher than 300fpm, although as I said, on the ground I set in the FMC appropriate LNZ SID and flew per VNAV+LNAV. So basically, A/P handled the climb, which is higher than 300fpm I think. Is there anything else for me to check?!

Well, you've got me stumped.Pls confirm the climb rate is greater than 300 feet climbing through 10,000.You're not starting at a high altitude airport, and then somehow changing to a low level airport?I programmed FS2Crew so that the passing 10,000 PA is not made if you're departing from a high altitude airport like Bogata.I don't see that being a problem though in the UK...Pls email me at admin@fs2crew.comCheers,Bryan
