FSCrew with hardware gear selector?

Recommended Posts

Hello Bob,I don't own any hardware like what you have, so I can't comment from experience.Would anyone who does own hardware like Bob's care to comment? When the the Gear is automatically raised or lowered in FS2Crew, all that FS2Crew is doing is using the "Gear Events" commands that are detailed in the Microsoft SDK's to do the job. It's pretty simple. That said, the question is: Does Bob's gear signal "override" the the gear signal that FS2Crew sends to FS2004?In other words, if Bob's gear handle is in the down position, and FS2Crew sends a "Gear Up" signal to FS2004, who overrides who?It would really depend on if the signal Bob's hardware sends to FS2004 is "continous" or not.If any of you are using FS2Crew with hardware like Bob's, I'm passing the mic over to you.-Bryan

Bob,I have the PFC throttle quad with the gear handle and all the other stuff that comes with it. I also have the Jetliner Yoke..they work great together don't they! Anyhow, on to your question...when the FO raises the gear, you will see the gear handle go up (in VC) but then come right back down because the PFC stuff overides anything FSCrew does. All you have to do is listen for the FO to tell you he is raising the gear and then raise the gear with the gear handle on the quadrant. It does not mess up FSCrew's flow at all. I actually forgot to do this the other night after I heard the FO call the gear going up and could not understand why the plane would not speed up...duh, idiot me forgot to raise the gear.

Thanks all...Pete Dowson had a better idea on how to eliminate this conflict. If you have the full version of FSUIPC, you can reassign the PFC gear selector using the "buttons" tab of the FSUIPC setup. I assigned it to the landing light switch as a test, and sure enough, no more gear conflicts. One more great capability already built in to Pete's invaluable utilities.CheersBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Washington, DC
