#9 Avsim vs FlightSim RTW Race Thread #9 The final run

Recommended Posts

The race continues here. The baton is currently in the hands of Johan van Wijngaarden, flying from Las Americas to Camague (Cuba) (MUCM).This excellent map was created by Matt Johnson to illustrate the race progress of both teams. http://www.avsim.com/~mattj/map/NOTICE TO AIRMEN #1: Make sure you reply to this post when you make your I HAVE THE BATON post. Thank You.NOTICE TO AIRMEN #2: Please refrain from making flight reservations. Others want to join in on the race, and it is unfair to them because they feel they can not take the baton once the most recent LANDING post has been made because they do not want to take it from someone who has "claimed the next leg." If you get the baton before anyone else, then it's your and you can fly the next leg.NOTICE TO AIRMEN #3: Pilots who are taking the baton do not have to fly to the airport suggested by another pilot. It is a good idea to fly as far as you can in the two hours, but there are no predesignated destinations. Fly as far as you can in the two hours in the general direction TEAM AVSIM is flying.NOTICE TO AIRMEN #4: Try to limit the number of screenshots and posts you make regarding one leg of the race to reduce clutter. Edit your posts as necessary.NOTICE TO AIRMEN #5: The "Two Hour Rule" is a strict guideline! If you are not going to make your destination within two hours, you must divert to an airport which you will land at within (or just after) your two hour flight time. You should post after two hours having taken the baton (if you've not already landed).---------------------------------------------The flightsim thread is located here:http://www.flightsimnetwork.com/dcforum/DC...ID10/36831.htmlKeep it moving guys!THE RULESObjective:To be the first forum to successfully complete (and authenticate) a series of flights around the world. All,On this last day, let's have some fun. Let's fly shortish legs and enjoy the scenery. If we fly short legs, then more of our guys will have a chance to participate on this last day. So let's be generous with our seat time.BTW. Team Flightsim is still in the middle of the South Pacific--about a day-and-a-half behind us. So no need to push too hard. We want to go to KLGA as Matt Smith suggests to complete the "competitive" part of the race. Then we and Team Flightsim can fly together on VATSIM to KBOS to honor all our efforts. A good time to be generous in spirit.Depending on the demand, we might have more or fewer flights. We should certainly limit ourselves to 400 nm each flight--fewer if possible. Take a lighter aircraft if you like. Smile. Here is a suggested routing. But we should play a bit and enjoy the day. Starting at Comaguey, Cuba MUCM once Johanrw lands there.MYNN 218 nm NassauX68 275 nm Kennedy Space Shuttle Port (Special Memorial Service!)KMYR 317 nm Myrtle BeachAt Myrtle Beach we can decide whether to go directly to KLGA. Or perhaps visit a good spot with multiple airports (say KDCA-KIAD-KBWI area) for VATSIMers to fly a joint flight to KLGA. (And others to watch on ServInfo.)Note. If we do this more open final day, it will be incumbent on all pilots to open the door for our colleagues to get a chance to fly today. Especially our veterans who have not flown a leg recently. So everyone "play nice", agreed?(On another note, We suggest that METRO_752 do the last leg into KLGA. He is the pilot who got us started. Paul, are you there?)Lets have some fun on this final day.Mike and Jeroen and Johan

I agree that the first one out should be the last one in if possible. We'll wait on him with someone at the ramp at the last stop before LGA to take off if needed were the competition to get too close for comfort (or if he doesn't respond at all within a reasonable time).
