Real world 732 behaviour question...

Recommended Posts

Hi, I've noticed when I land that as soon as the spoilers and thrust reversers are deployed, there is a strong pitch down moment induced on the plane. This pretty much slams the nose landing gear into the tarmac. There is no crash, but, it kind of looks... well... something is not right... ;)I guess the question is: Is this realistic and there is a need to pull on the yoke to nose up to keep it from slamming so hard, or does the airfile need a bit'o tweaking? Thanks in advance for your help, and again AWESOME! packsge! :)regards,Macs :)

the real world 737-200 you will NEVER deploy your reverse thrust with nose up.the ground clearance is minimum, and you can left the reverse clam shell in the runway. you REALLY don't want this.the correct way to land is touch the main gear, aply trim to nose down, and only after the nose well on ground, aply the reverse thrust.IF you deploy without the nose well in ground, the momentum due reverse thrust is so big that will throw your nose to the runway, and is possible to have damage in the nose gear.keep in mind. Nose up - no reverse Nose on Runway - reverse thrust.others aircraft such 727, dc9 with tail mounted engines, this isn't needed.regards

the SB is for the the reverse system be released after the ground safety sensor be compressed. the same system that allows the ground spoiler to be deployed.the original is with the nose gear strut.at flaps 30, the normal approach pitch is 2.5 degrees in a 3 degree slope with Vapp = Vref+5.at flaps 40, the normal approach pitch is 0 degrees, same conditions as above.the normal flare technic requires for flap 30, 4 to 6 degrees pitch up, for flaps 40, 3 to 5 degrees for pitch up.the problem with the buckets is the ground clearance, since the touchdown can be very hard, and thu this, the recomendation from VASP for 732 normal operation (they have the SB installed) is to apply reverse thrust only after the nose whell touch.
