Reversers problem (revisited) with spoilers

Recommended Posts

Been doing some work on my reverser issue. After doing a bunch of tests, here is what I am seeing:1. The repeating sound is "speed brake deploy"2. If I land with speed brakes down, when I engage reverse thrust, the speed brakes remain down, but I get the "speed brake deploy" sound looping. If I raise speed brake, I get speed brake deployment and the sound stops (still reverse thrust on).3. If I land with speed brakes armed, on touchdown I get the speed brake deploy sound, but speed brakes go (stay) down. When I engage reversers, I get the looping deploy sound.4. In either case (speed brakes down or armed), after touch down if I manually deploy speed brakes, I get full deployment and the eployment sounds only occurs at touchdown (if armed) and when I manually deploy. With manual deploy and then angaging reversers, I do NOT get the looping deploy sound.5. Also, when manually raising spoilers after touchdown, I get "wing fold" text scroll across screen. (I don't have any key assigned to wing fold/unfold in my controls assignment). If I subsequently lower the spoilers, I get the "wing unfold" text scroll. So it seems like I have two problems:a. Spoilers do not deploy when armed (Shift-/) at touchdown; instead they are down.b. On touch down when spoilers are down, engaging reverse thrust causes spoiler deploy wave file to loop, unless spoilers are manually raised (/-key)Note that in testing with the default B734, the spoilers operated as expected.scott s..

The "wing fold" is normal, because the six-panel ground spoiler deployment animation in Terry Gaff's model uses the wing fold command to control it.Check your hydraulic configuration. The "looping" sound is caused when the spoilers are trying to activate with the hydraulics shut off. The FSUIPC command that disables deployment of the spoilers without hydraulics only catches the command as it goes to the spoilers, which results in the sound playing repeatedly. I'm looking at fixing this by controlling the sounds directly from the gauges in a future version.But...I suspect the spoilers aren't going up at landing because the hydraulics aren't configured correctly. There is a bug in the latest (V1.0 Patch #4) version that sometimes causes the system B pumps to shut off by themselves when the sim is paused...should be fixed in V1.1 which I hope to release before Labor Day weekend.RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Santiago de Chile

Yet I am still having the issue of not all spoilers coming up on touchdown. I also have a turbine sound in spot view even with all cold and dark. And the throttle trim, when activated, immediately decreases my throttles to near idle, and I have to spin my mouse wheel quickly so as not to bleed speeed off to stall.Just letting you know, not complaining at all, I love this sim and thank you all for the time and effort, and especially keeping it FREE.-Chris

Chris; There is an issue with the spoiler deployment if you're watching the landing in spot view...not sure why but MSFS appears to suspend execution of the panel gauges while in spot view. What kind of throttle are you using? Does the throttle lock clickspot on the #1 EPR gauge behave the same as the mapped button? As far as the turbine sound with engines shut down, you're right. The fix is to make a change in the sound.cfg file: change the second number in the vparams line in sections JET_WHINE.1.04 and JET_WHINE.2.04 from 3.000000 to 0.000000The vparams line in both sections should read:vparams=0.000000,0.000000,0.230000,14.000000,0.270000,23.000000,0.330000,9.000000,0.470000,0.000000But be aware...in external view another aircraft nearby can also make turbine noise.RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Santiago de Chile

Mr. Scott-Thank you for the quick response to my question. I use a Microsoft Sidewinder II joystick, and since my FSUIPC is un-registered, I have no keys mapped for the throttle trim.Due to the age of my computer and it's less than stellar performance with FS, I fly without any traffic, so the TMII is where the noise is coming from. I will apply the fix in the sound.cfg, thank you for that.Again, I want to stress these problems are minor. The fact that I have such a wonderful simulation of one of my favorite airplanes, and it was free, is amazing. The TMII team are the best!Best,Chris Hewitt

Chris; I suspect the throttle trim issue is due to not having a registered version of FSUIPC. I doubt that the features used in the programming are supported in the freeware version.CheersBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Santiago de Chile
