PDCS - Few questions

Recommended Posts

Guest mgalmozzi

I'm happly flying around your new model in the virtual skyes and obviously some questions and doubts arouse.I don't know exactly how far is PDCS modeled but I configured it fr the weather conditions and the weights through the LOAD page during my cockpit preparation.itI entered my INDEX (does the index, which I suppose is what we Airbus drivers call COST INDEX, have any effect in the PCDS at this stage?) and figured out my max EPR (I performed a flex takeoff due to sufficent rwy lenght and climb gradient). Is there any other feature to be considered/set during preparation that I'm not aware of (VREF, TRIP, FUEL... pages??).After takeoff, at thr-red altitude I engage the CLB mode and retard the thrust.I don't know exactly at which point I should set the speed bug in "slaved" mode and I didnt notice if the bug comply with speed restiction entered in the PDCS (does it?).As I climb I decide to modify my climb speeds to 280/.72 by using the MANUAL CLB page of the PDCS; I'm able to enter 280 but as I try to insert mach number .72 I get 680* instead of the mach number; did I insert in the wrong format???And again... what's the WIND requested by the PDCS... I suppose it is HW/TW component... what's the correct format for that?I understand I just dropped a 1000 questions but not being able to get a hold of real world manual I suppose some answer to these questions will give a chance to a lot of simmers to be able to operate your magnificent panel at its best.Congrat's again for the awesome job and thank you.So far no bugs or any complaints but I think I liked the previous "wing folding" setting; the new version kinda drop the nose right after touchdown rather then at reverse thrut application.Best RegardsMichele

AFAIK, cost index in the pdcs is not implemented, such as wind (this is explained in pdcs manual)Assumed OAT is the "FLEX TO" in the boeings aircraft.the EPR CLB do not drive the aircraft to the speed constriction. this must be done manualy throug pilot thrust control or nose up/down.other issues and Q/A just with Bob.regards,Gustavo "Omykron"

Michele; The mach number is entered as three digits...M0.72 is entered into the PDCS as "720" It should comply with the alt/speed restriction, but then again I may have hard-coded it to 250/10000...will need to go back and look. The winds and index are not currently used for anything...they would only be used for range and fuel computations that aren't currently implemented anyway.RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Santiago de Chile

Thanks for the prompt reply... all clear.... yeah.. I saw the bug does follow the speed costraint and it's perfectly functioning for different speeds or altitude modifications.Understood the mach format.... I was trying to type 072 I guess it goes to minimum fix value .68 as 680.Happy LandingsMichele
