speed breaks and autobreak failures

Hi all,fisrt off all, I used "search" mode of topic for my problem with these wkey words "speed breaks, speed break, spoillers etc" , but I couldn't find anything.I made a short online flight with my own repaint (vipair- model PNK). it was 1 hr flight at FL280. after T/O there was no problem without some decreases sound of cockpit by new V1.1 cfg.but I lived some problem while descend and after landingproblems are;1- when I want to use speedbreak for decreasing speed, even speed break lever come flight detend, aircraft doesn't slowing. decent rate was 1600-2000fpm and thurst levers %35RPM at that moment. I was working to slowing down 290IAS to 230IAS for preparing approach operation neither no noise of spoillers in air nor deceleration or seriously act on aircraft situation (pitch up or down).just I could to do when I reached level at FL70 and the same thrust rate on levelled flight.2- before landing, while approach, I did set autobreake "MED", after landing, when I slowing down 80knts, closed reverses and reached 50knts I wanted turn on manuel breaking. When try to turn left to knob DISC, autobreak didn't disengage and I saw BRAKE warn on display.I pressed to manuel break button joystick and keyborad button a few times (normally when I press one of them, autobreak disengage automatickly) but didin't work. Turned knob first RTO,then MIN, MED and MAX and again DISC and did work.are there anyone live the same problem or these are just special for me?thanksHakan737Guvenistanbulp.s:I'm really sorry for my terrible english!

Hi HakenI am having the same problem as you regarding the autobrake disengage. I used it the other day and could not disconnect it. I cam to abrupt halt on the runway! Probably with all my PAX's noses pressed up against the seat in front. Since then I have only used manual braking and left the autobrake alone!Speedbrakes does slow me in the descent as long as my ROD is no more than 2000 fpm.CheersTimhttp://members.chello.nl/t.westnutt/realair.gif

Hakan,the speed brakes in all 737 series just make turbulence if you need to slow down and descent. trust me. level off, idle, without speed brakes, the 737 (and I guess, all jets) will lose something near 10kias for 1nm.If you are descending at 280kias, at 2000ft/min, with speed brakes at flight detent, you can keep the same speed with 2300ft/minIF you really need to descent and reduce speed (nose up), at or bellow 250kias, bellow fl150, just extend your gear.after you reached the desired altitude, if is the final approach, extend flaps, respecting the extension speed. Case not, gear up.in the second part, i can't help.

Tim and Omykron,thanks for your interest and share your opinions. I will most carefull about descend operation without speedbreaks and make more seriously TOD point calculate with 737-200 performance. But as my experience with cockpit flight or passanger in real life, speed break using seems a normal procedure of decend if necesseary. (if you comes high level and you must be decend short time.. but I'm agree with you, that operation's first goal is keep the speed while descend with high vario, not slowing down. I think I made wrong at this point)and second problem autobreak; Ok, I'll use manuel break until accept a bug and publish a fix.thanks again.hakan737guven

Yes, you can use speed brakes for normal operations, but they have a little efficient.regards,

meanwhile, I made a quick inspection of speedbreak levers movement capability of each B737-200ADV on tinmouseII.Continental and Delta are using PNK model,Lufthansa is using PHK,AirAtlantic is using CHK,Lan CArgo is using CNK and latest one my repaint VIPair is using PNK model.when I try to adjust of speedbreak lever(with mouse) in theese model, lever gone to direct full open position.Lever doesn't arange any position half or 1/3 position.but, Sudan air is using PGK model and in this model, speedbreak levers can be arange whatever you want to get position.1/3, half or full open.if you want I can add pictures about this situations.Models are generally the same except, cargo or PAX model and hushkit. but wings companents are the same. can it be a bug?Hakan737Guven

Haven't been able to duplicate it on 3 PCs here. The autobrakes are designed to disengage when you apply normal brakes. You should see the amber INOP light as soon as they disengage. Hi Bob,You are right,normally the most of aurobreak functions does like as you said in other add-ons. I like it very much flying with 737-200ADV when I want to fly in FS and I've a lot of chance to check systems.Autobreak did work once as well disengage when press manuel break button or turn knob to DISC mode (with check INOP lamp), but generally doesn't work. At least on my computer.Does work autobreak? yes, it does prefect except disengage problem but this is not fatal problem. if I turn knob from RTO to MAX (or any position first) and then DISC, autobreak can be OFF.But important problem SpeedBreaks. I tried tens times with all models in the same flihgt conditions but speedbreaks does not working as well for speed/vertical speed vario control during descend or levelled flight.In Old Tinmouse 737-200 version (tinmouse I)this function was working as well (in FFX models).You could be set the lever whatever you want in depends of descent vario or speed controll.Now, when pressed keyboard Speedbreaks arm buttons, lever going to flight detend nor ARM position.If I want to FULL OPEN position with keyboard or mouse in throttle window, when I check spoillers position on wings, spoillers are opens HALF.There is a problem but I can't explain as well.hakan guvenistanbul
