Flaps

Recommended Posts

Hello all,I've had no problems at all (with this great 737-200, super job to all involved)until I installed version 1.21 Update. The only issue I've noticed off the get go is my flaps are not working correctly. For the most part it's either no flaps or full flaps. Moving the flap lever manually, the + or - on the gauge or using the F keys doesn't put the flaps where they should be. Using the + or - on the gauge, doesn't move the flap lever, it does operate the flaps but usually it will go to full flaps or no flaps, same when using any of the other commands. The flap lever can be up and the flaps will go to full flaps, the odd time it might stop in between. I've made no other changes except this update. Have I missed something somewhere??Thanks,Mel M.

Mel; Check the control assignments in the MSFS menu. There should be no axis assignment there...should only be the default F6/F7 keys. If there is an axis assignment, you'll need to delete it to make the flaps work correctly. The alternate flap switch on the OHP must be down and guarded also.RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Santiago de Chile

Bob, There is no axis assignment for flaps, have only F6/F7 (I deleted joystick assigments and F5/F8 and alt. flap sw. is down/guarded. Here's what it's doing;flap lever up..flaps on gauge indicates up.F7 to flap lever 1.. flaps ext. to 40 on gauge.F7 to flap lever 2 to 10.. no flap movement.F7 to flap lever 15..flaps retract to 2 on gauge.F7 to flap lever 25..flaps ext. to 10 on gauge.F7 to flap lever 30..flaps ext. to 25 on gauge.F7 to flap lever 40..flaps ext. to 40 on gauge.F6 to flap lever 30..flaps retract to 25 on gauge.F6 to flap lever 25..no flap movement.F6 to flap lever 15..flaps retract to 2 on gauge.F6 to flap lever 10..flaps ext. to 40 on gauge.F6 to flap lever 5/2/1.. no flap movement.Very strange!!Mel M.

Mel; I looked through the flap code last night and don't see anything that would even remotely explain this...and I haven't heard about this from anyone else. I think I'd start by reinstalling the airplane. Also, make sure you have FSUIPC 3.70 or higher...physically check the FSUIPC.DLL file in the FS9 Modules folder...could be some other add-on overwrote it with an old version that doesn't support the key intercepts (which I think is a relatively recent feature).RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Santiago de Chile

Bob,I checked and had FSUIPC 3.70 in the right place (even overwrote it to make sure).I removed and reinstalled the plane from scratch, same issue with the flaps and also noted spoilers will go up but don't come back down.I'm going to remove it again and reinstall it without V1.21 update. Like I had mentioned, I've never had any problems/errors with any of the other versions/updates, everything worked ok before V1.21. Is this update control hardware specific by chance??Thanks,Mel M.

No, not hardware specific. Do you have some sort of hardware driver (i.e. CH, PFC) that could be directly accessing the flap/spoiler axes?CheersBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Santiago de Chile

Hi Bob,For years I've been using a G-Force flight yolk and CH pedals with no change in any drivers. I don't have any buttons assigned to flaps or spoilers on the yolk (only trim, brakes and wide view).I'm going to remove and reinstall again, except for the latest update, just to see what happens.Let you know the result. Thanks,Mel M.

Have you tried it without Wideview? That's the only unknown I see in your config...not sure how it deals with aircraft config data.RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV V L-300Santiago de Chile

Hi Bob,Well it was pure coincidence that the flap/spoiler issue happened with the latest update because I reinstalled to the point where it was working ok before and the problem is still there. I guess I should have known better when you said no others were having problems and all the other versions/updates I installed went smoothly.I appologize!!I just don't know what happened to create this....don't remember making any other changes at the same time.I appreciate your help and if you have any other suggestions....Thanks,Mel M.

Please e-mail a copy of your FSUIPC.ini file and a listing of all the files in your FS9 modules directory to the support e-mail so I can take a look.RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Santiago de Chile

Hi Bob,I deleted the fs9 config. and let fs9 build a new one. The flaps/spoilers worked ok for a bit (flaps with lever went to proper positions, speed brake lever moved/deployed properly) and then suddenly it went back to the same problem. Once the spoilers are moved up they won't come back down. When I use "/" key it shows "wing extending" the spoilers start to breifly move down but pop back up with "wing folding" (never used to show "wing extend/fold" before when using the "/" key).I've tried most of my other addons and the fs9 supplied aircraft and the flaps/spoilers work as they should.I'll e-mail your requests including a copy of my fs9 config. Will also send an interesting jpeg of FSUIPC--Joystick Calibration--Spoilers(with spoiler lever down and flap lever up) and sometimes you can't reset the spoilers to zero in FSUIPC.What is the support e-mail address??Thanks again,Mel M.

Guest Salvador

Hi Mel,I had exactly the same spoiler problem as you. I managed to fix it by removing the fsuipc.ini file (inside "Modules" folder) and then entering all settings again (from the modules/FSUIPC menu in FS9), and removing the default flight and letting FS9 re-create it again... hope this helps.Regards,Salvador

Hey Salvador,Thanks for the input but Bob has found the problem. In FSUIPC>Joystick Calibration>Spoilers and Flaps have to show Axis not processed, mine were not. Thanks,Mel M.

>In FSUIPC>Joystick Calibration>Spoilers and Flaps have to show>Axis not processed, Mel, this makes sense... I imagine I removed the processing when re-creating the axis assignments in FSUIPC.CheersSalvador
