INS Alignment Question

Recommended Posts

Guest davetherave

Hi all,I am trying to get to grips with the CIVA INS in the amazing B732. However, I can never seem to get it to start alignment. The biggest problem is that it will not accept my Lon co-ordinate, if I try to press W or E on the POS page nothing happens. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong? I have outlined the procedure I am following below:1) Establish power - APU or Ground Power2) Rotate INS knob to Standby3) Test INS lights, check everything in DSRTK/STS page, etc4) Call up POS page and ensure waypoint selector is set to 0 (I have tried it with other numbers too but still it dosen't work)5) Press N or S and enter latitude6) Press INSERT. The latitude shows up in the right window7) Press W or E and try to enter longitude (spelling? sorry)...however nothing happens. The E in the right window does not change to a W and the numbers do not appear. The INSERT button lights but they still do not appear in the window when I press it.I have tried re-installing the INS as a last resort but the problem persists, so I can only assume it is something I am doing wrong. Can anyone help me out? Many thanks.Dave

The uusual cause of this problem is people pressing the INSERT key prior to entering the latitude, or people pressing the INSERT key twice after entering the latitude.Waypoint selector has no effect on entry of present position.RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VSantiago de Chile

Hi,That's sorted it! Thanks. Another quick question, is the RAD/NAV button beside the HSI a toggle between the FS9 NAV/GPS functions or is it a toggle between the 737's radio and INS units? The reason I ask is that I was doing a flight today with the button set to NAV, and couldn't figure out if the aircraft was following the INS or the FS9 GPS.Dave
