Chances for a VC?

Recommended Posts

Hi Bob-O, I know you're not a fan of VCs, but I noticed in the FAQ that you said that development would continue for FS9, so I was wondering if that included the possibility of a VC. I am a huge fan of the Tinmouse and I think a lot of us would love to have a VC for it. Though I have no programming or art skills, I'd volunteer my time to help in any way I could. What do you think?Respectfully,Jeff

Well, Jeff-O, I've only come across a few VCs that didn't make me feel like I was watching a B-reel cartoon. It isn't that I dislike the concept, it's that I dislike what I see in most VCs.To do a VC right would take months of work to develop the skills, plus a great deal of cockpit photography I don't have now. And then we'd have to build an entirely new model, as Terry has faded from the scene and the VC and model are heavily interdependent. So, no, it's not likely that I'll be up to doing a VC. My focus, once I execute my retirement plan and get settled, will most probably be on more systems depth, like adding some of the panels that are still missing such as the hydraulics and gear lever panels, as well as the Sperry 177 AFCS...and that only when I'm not working on my Gulfstream project.RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VSantiago de Chile

Bob, thanks for the response, I do understand where you're coming from with the cartoonish looking VCs, I won't mention any names though. I was wondering which VC's you find most realistic, I think the Level-D 67 with Andre Folker's VC texture mod is quite good. I find the CS 130 VC to be very good too. I'm also a fan of David Maltby's VC work as well. The PMDG 747 isn't bad, but a user once made some mods to the panel and showed some screens which really made it nice, but unfortunately PMDG didn't allow him to upload his work. I'm very much looking forward to Ralph's new 742 project and there is a DC10 with a nice looking VC in the pipeline and of course Paul Golding's DC8. A VC for the Tinmouse would just be the icing on the cake, but I understand your dilemma. Thanks,Jeff

I'm very glad that you're planning on continuing the systems work on the Tinmouse, Bob. VC or no, it's among my absolute favorite aircraft to fly in FS, and any improvements at this point would be greatly appreciated. John G.KTUS

While a VC would be certainly be very nice to go along with this bird I'm very glad to hear that systems depth will get the priority...This is probably our best detailed 732 in FS9 ever as most developers seems to focus on glass cockpit birds these days...Thanks a lot for your time and dedication to this project Bob!Regards,Sylvain
