Accessing SimConnect From VB

Recommended Posts

The SimConnect documentation states that you must use C or C++ to access SimConnect, unless you use the managed API, in which case you can use any of the Microsoft .Net language compilers. However I have found, after a bit of experimentation, that you can access the non-managed SimConnect API from VB and VBA, using appropriate DECLARE statements. I've posted some sample code over at the [a href=http://www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki/index.php?title=Accessing_SimConnect_From_VB]FSDeveloper Wiki.[/a]Cheers,Russ Dirks

That's excellent Russ. I'm new to VB and was hoping someone would "crack the code". This will help me as I continue learning how to write code that interfaces with FS.DougDell XPS Gen3 (3.6GHz/800FSB) | 2GB DDR SDRAM | 74GB SATA, 10k RPM (C: ) | 120GB SATA (D: ) | 512MB ATI Radeon X1900XTX (Catalyst 6.8) | Audigy 2 ZS Sound | MS Force Feedback 2 | WindowsXP Pro (SP2) | DirectX 9.0c

I have tried running the application that is listed at WIKI, but it does not function and produces an error. I have included the path to the simconnect.dll in the declarations, but the error is "453, cannot locate entry point of DLL" and fails to run. Anyone else have an idea on using simConnect with VB6 or VB.NET 2005?
