Inertial Accelerations with Simconnect

Recommended Posts

The API provides two different types of intertial accelerations in the X, Y, and Z axes. One is called "Acceleration Body", and the other is called "Acceleration World".Can anyone explain the differences between the two types? Thanks,Pat Dotson

With World, the axises are in relation to the world on a whole, a global axis (not to be confused with like polar axis or anything) while the body axises are local to the object. For example, if you wanted to go straight up, and you used the World axis, it would work, but the direction of movement if you used body would be based on which way the plane was pointing.I can see why World axises would be important, but I've only had need for Body axises.

Thanks. I seem to recall experimenting with the world accelerations some time ago and found the same thing. On a separate note, "Acceleration Body Y" doesn't do quite the same thing as 'Gforce'. IMO, what is needed is something akin to the "Gforce" offset that operates in the X and Z axis. Is there such a thing? Thanks,Pat
