Guest LeeWang

I spend 2-3 weeks with CTD's Have now fixed. Remove FSUIPC 3.71 and install FSUIPC 3.70.See post.http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...esg_id=94&page=I get CTD's (with FSUIPC 3.71 installed) In XP's event log I have this error for each CTD:The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: 7.Read pete's forums and other have same problem. Hope this help..Bye

I tried several of those fixes mentioned above. I even changed my RAM V from 1.85 to 2.10. After those tweaks mentioned above I am still getting the CTD. Lee, I get the same error in the event viewer, but mine has two simultaneous errors. At the end of the error I get a 7 and on a seperate error I get a 6. Not sure what that means? Any Ideas? Thanks-Jared

Jared, I get two event log errors for each CTD as well. I not saying this will fix your CTD, but FSUIPC 3.71 is giving me CTD's. Have you tried a different version of FSUIPC? Lee

Thanks anyway, I found it. Just wondering Lee, when did these CTD occur. How long would you be flying when it would occur. Explain more about the CTD you were getting. I am doing a flight right now from KLIT-KMDW on VATSIM and all seems fine right now with FSUIPC 3.70. I will let you know how it turns out.-Jared

Jared... It was random when flying. Could never really re-create it. You should see things I did trying to fix this.Removed sound card, Removed memory, reseated video card, Remove/replace drivers, play with fs9.cfg. etc etc. Never ever thought would be FSUIPC.I re-installed windows xp/SP2. and start over. Did one thing at time and tested.I found by switching views in cockpit, or going to spot view would make the CTD happen sooner. I then could re-create the CTD on a very regular basis by doing this procedure. CTD would happen between 30 seconds to maybe 4 minutes of doing this:1. I save a flight and called it CTD test. It loads up the default b737 everytime. With parking brake set, I increase to full throttle. Look in all directions in 2D panel.2. I hit the "S" key to go to spot view.3. I than select another default aircraft, over and over until my CTD happens. I remain in spot view all the time. Within the first 5-10 aircraft selections, FS2004 will usually crash to desk top (CTD) with no error message. Also i note that by going back and forth from Full screen to window, CTD sometime happen.Lee

Wow, that sounds just like what is happening to me. Like last night, I was flying with Carenado 210 and everything was fine for about 15-20min. Then I went to select a new Carenado airplane and as soon as it was done loading it would CTD. I also get CTD is spot plane view. My CTD are completely random, and it is very hard for me to try and recreate. I just finished a flight from KLIT-KMDW on VATSIM with no CTD. But this has happened before where I can go several flights and a few days without a CTD, then all the sudden they start happening. Lets hope that with FSUIPC 3.70 all the CTD will stop. Thanks so much for that information Lee. I will keep you updated!-Jared

Dear LeeWang:From your exchanges with Mr. Dowson, it's clear that you have done an unbelievable amount of research and troubleshooting into this bizarre and annoying issue which just started to afflict me as from last night, in the same types of circumstances as you and others, and using the PMDG 747-400 and the CoolSky MD-80 as well. This has never happened to me in Fs9 as far as I can recall. I just installed FSUIPC 3.70 based on your findings and recommendations (I am a registered FSUIPC user) and will see what happens tomorrow.Thank you for your efforts which would have taken me several years to replicate, if I could even have done a tenth of what you have done!JS

I must say, after a few months of scratching my head over my personal CTD problems, I think I have fixed mine. If you read my original post, you will imagine what I have been through with FS9 CTD. I tried Lee's advice by switching from the newest FSUIPC to a earlier version of 3.70 and I have been CTD free for over a week. I have tried to replicate the CTD I would get prior to installing 3.7 and I have not been able to get one songle CTD. But for me this is still just preliminary, as it has only been over a week. Time will tell, but from what I can figure, I think my CTD problems are behind me thanks to Lee's advice. Not sure what inside FSUIPC was causing the CTD, but FS9 looks and runs great now! Thanks again Lee!-Jared
