Flight Planner

Recommended Posts

Guest johnnyh

I am looking for a free flight planner called FSBuild 1.4.3 but it seems to have dissapeared from the internet. If I can't have that then I would really like a free flight planner where I can just type in my current position and destinaton (KEDW-KLAX). Thanks John

there are a variety of www sources -*simroutes: http://www.eleventhstreet.com/fb2/Showplans.aspx (this site only has routes that have been created and submitted by users, so for your example there is no route available)*NFDC Preferred Routes Database Query: http://www.fly.faa.gov/Products/Coded_Depa...s_database.html (this is provided by the real world USA ATC command center. only covers busy airspace and airports.)*routefinder: http://rfinder.asalink.net/free/ (really good site. at times the route will be a bit 'out of the way.' think google/yahoo maps with this site as at times the the databast cannot find the best route.)*euroutepro:http://www.euroutepro.com/fp/fp_main.php (for flying in europe.)another source is going through VATSIM's (http://www.vatsim.net) ARTCC's sites for routes (this is how i found the euroutepro site).if others know more www sources please share.hope the above helps.happy flyin'.

i see that the pay side of the routefinder site(http://rfinder.asalink.net/) posts a link for "export FPL". i am not a member of the site so have no idea how well the download system works.on the simroutes site you can download a FS9 flightplan (if a route is in the simroutes database).only about 0.5% of my flying is done using the FS GPS. i've not used the FS flight planner in FS9 (grew to dislike its poor functioning back with FS7). most of my flights are managed using a FMS (which i enjoy programming). if i fly non-FMS equipment i use 'the old way' of going from VOR to VOR. another fun way to fly 'like the 1960s-1970s' is to use the CIVA INS (with this program you enter waypoints using LAT/LON) available at http://www.simufly.com/ins/index.htm. you MUST read the manual, which is long, and adds a high level of realism to flight management.
