FS9 Running in the background

Recommended Posts

Guest Bloumb

It seems that I am becoming more and more interested in flying the longer routes with the "heavy's".However, as this requires more waiting while in the cruise, portion, I was wondering if there is any way that MSFS9 can run in the background so I have free my comuter up to work on other stuff while in the cruise phase.?ThanksDarryl

Look in the fs9.cfg--I believe the line is "pause_on_task_switch=1" and change it from a 1 to a 0. FS9 will keep running while you surf the web or work on your thesis. Just make sure you have plenty of fuel and no mountains at or above your planned flight level :)-John

Yes there is.Options/Settings/General and uncheck Pause on task switch. Now when you have minimized from full screen FS will continue to run. Be advised that you will still be expected to keep up with ATC commands. If your going to be gone for a long time, then when they advise you to change frequency and contact the next center, acknowledge but do not contact then next center until you are back in FS again.

Yep it's right in the options menu within MSFS, I myself have started getting into the longer routes with my LDS767. I myself never fly with ATC, i find it too unrealistic, i just plan, fly sids and stars etc. without any ATC, it's much more enjoyable for me anyways.I also ALT+Tab it during cruise, however I do also time accel(i know people dont agree with that) because i cant stand sim for more than 2 hours at a time max. when i accel its when im usually in the MSFS program, but when i alt tab i set it back to normal speed as too much could happen at 8x when not keeping an eye on things.
