P-51 Mustang

Recommended Posts

Guest Watervillevor

I just read the excellent review of the new P-51 Mustang freeware plane on Avsim. I would love to have this bird but, for some reason, it does not show up when I run a search for the file. I'm using FS2004 original aircraft and P-51 Mustang. All that comes back are a few repaints of older P-51 aircraft. What am I doing wrong?Watervillevor

The P-51 is not distributed through AVSIM. At the top of reviews, below the addon title, it will say who the publisher is, click that link and it will take you there.www.gjsmith.net

I love these forums!!!Joe, Thanks for the tip; went to the site, downloaded the zip and I now have this great bird on my machine. My machine, by the way, is an old Gateway with a 700 meg Athalon, 384 meg RAM, a Nvidia 256 meg card and WIN 98SE.Before you all cringe, if I set my sliders at about middle and FPS at unlimited, I can get a not bad 15 FPS with this bird at Jackson Hole, WY, KJAC. If I try to fly it out of Toledo Express KTOL, where I live, it drops down to about 8-9 FPS. Still, it is fun and I have yet to land this bird without crashing and I'm a real-life pilot with probably over 3000 landings to my credit in 37 years of flying real ones. (I must admit that the P51 Mustang is hardly a C-172). Interestingly, the F4U Corsair in FS2002 Pro is very flyable and a great warbird for people to learn how to fly a taildragger. Thanks again for the tip, Joe.Buzz Jameson
