Changing A/C Lights ???

Recommended Posts

Guest captandy

I have noticed that most of my A/C running lights (NAV,BEACON,STROBE) look out of sorts like they are larger than the lights themselves.I guess a golf ball effect would best describe the way they look.I am not sure if its my Vid driver or is there a way to change something in the A/C cfg and or effects file to make the lights more defined/realistic? PLease give me a detail or an example of what needs to be done ...I have a host of addons that I am noticing this.As I pan away the effects get better when using the outside view.ThanksAndy

I'd look in the lights section of the aircraft.cfg file of those acft, and see if they share common fx files for the lights. Most probably use a set of standard MSFS lighting effects. If you can find another good acft with a more pleasing effect, you can always change the lights.x line to that effect in the aircraft.cfg file. One caveat, though...aircraft which have the light effects directly coded into the .mdl file can't be changed by the user unless you're capable of hacking a .mdl binary. Those acft can generally be identified by lack of the lights definitions in the aircraft.cfg file.RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Santiago de Chile

Andy, you need to change the HALO.BMP file. Check out the different ones here at Avsim that look 1000% better.
