Parking brakes not holding

Recommended Posts

Strange, never had this problem before, but seems no matter which aircraft I use when I set the parking brake it lasts for a few seconds then shuts off. I tryed to just rebuild the fs9.cfg thinking that some default setting got accidentally changed and that appeared to do the trick but now it's doing it all over again. I recently loaded the CIVA INS into several panels which requires the parking brake set before initializing .Obviously cannot get to work properly because of this condition. Any ideas as to the cause?ThanksEdit: could this be caused by a FSIUPC setting? I recently loaded up the latest version(registered)

I have the CH peddles and if I pull the parking brake and accidentally kick one of the toe brakes the parking brake will disengage. Could that be your problem?

Thanks for the replies. I'm using kind of an old set up of CH Pro Pedals(gameport)along with a cheapo yoke(also gameport). I use these with a usb/serial interface, been using this combo though for a long time without any issues. One thing I do notice is that occasionally the yoke can be a bit erratic(sticky/slow response). Most likely attributable to "noise" interference with this set-up, not sure though. I normally setup fs9 to not show brake messages but I turned them on to test the parking brake, now and then I see flashes of "differential brakes" on the screen and I thought at first this could cause it to kick out the parking brake but I had this issue in the past and it never affected the parking brake so ???Edit: the flashing brake message appears sporadically without any rudder pedal input by me.

What's happening, probably, is you have a noisy pot in your rudder that's throwing spurious inputs. The parking brake is released when any amount of toe brakes are applied, and if your rudders are fluxing around significantly, they're sending random toe brake inputs to FS.Don't know what sort of pot those pedals use...possibly you can blow it out with air, but more than likely it needs replaced. If you have the registered version of FSUIPC, you can set a larger dead zone in the center, and if your pot is only spiking up a little bit, that'll give you some relief.RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VSantiago de Chile
