an idea for an addon

Recommended Posts

maybe this has been done before, if it is, im not aware of any, i keep reading on the web of real world events of real fly-ins etc at xyz airport on so and so date.i would love to see an addon for a specific airport that would have tons of ga traffic coming in about the same time, simulating a flyin, then i the user/player could flyin at the same time as well, i just think it would be kinda fun. i know you can do this for "real" getting and flying together online, but so many of those i find, not very many people show up, i would love to see a flyin by the droves, like a hundred or so.. any ai addon that does this? or how difficult would it be to put some ai flightplans together to simulate this?thanksciao!Brian S

Ciao!

doing this would be very easy using TrafficTools (TT) by lee swordy. i did the same to a local airport (1G0) to simulate there being some local traffic.1G0 is wood county airport in bowling green, OH; home to bowling green state university's (BGSU) aviation program; there are always students flying around in the cessna fleet. using TT i went so far as to assign AI aircraft 'real life' tail numbers as owned by BGSU.--

I've never used traffic ttools but would like to implement some cessna's at my home airport for some GA action, Is it difficult to accomplish, is there a tutorial or something around to help me out.I've used TTools but it was all automatically done by world of AI, I have no idea where to even start to implement Cessna's etc. at my home airport.Any help would be great.Thanks

You can create your own traffic and have an AI fly in no problem. I have a couple of airports where I have a virtual warbird flyin every saturday afternoon. Georenders S86 is my own private air field in this regard. I have dehavilland chipmunks, T-34's, T-6's etc all convene at 1PM and land within minutes of each other. But I also have a couple of Piper Cubs and a Maule also arrive a little later. I created a custom AFCAD to add parking spaces with specific slots for each aircraft and also created a custom traffic.bgl for these airplanes.The

The best source of info I've ever run across on writing out your own AI flightplans is the actual readme that comes with Traffic Tools. It's an html page that opens in your browser with a hyperlinked index so its easy to find what you're looking for.You'll have to have parking spots at your airport for every airplane or they won't show up. You'll probably have to use Afcad to make a temporary airport "scenery" with gobs of parking spots to use on the day of the fly-in.I added a bunch of GA operations out of my home airport. It got pretty confusing trying to figure out which airplane should be where and at what time, particularly because your flight plans have to be done in UTC time and you are constantly converting back & forth. I wound up making myself a schedule in "human readable" form where I could type out the flights I wanted to take place, then it was actually pretty easy to convert them to "jibberish" in the FlightPlans.txt file. The schedule looks like this"

(all times ZULU/PST)(PST= ZULU -8)(PDT= ZULU -7) Departure	  Arrival		   Aircraft			 Leg-------------------------------  Sunday  ------------------------------14:15/ 6:15a   15:28/ 7:28a	Cessna Skyhawk 172SP Paint1(tg)1S6 ->1S617:45/ 9:45a   18:14/10:14a	Cessna Skyhawk 172SP Paint1	KSZT->65S17:47/ 9:47a   18:38/10:38a   HTAI Cessna 177 Cardinal (02)   S83-> 65S18:45/10:45a   19:14/11:14a	Cessna Skyhawk 172SP Paint1	65S->KSZT20:12/12:12p   21:48/ 1:48p	*Cessna Skyhawk Gold&White*	65S->KCTB20:54/12:54p   21:43/ 1:43p   de Havilland Comet Black Magic KCOE->KFCA21:15/ 1:15p   22:10/ 2:10p	Cessna Skyhawk 172SP Paint1(tg)1S6 ->1S622:11/ 2:11p   23:39/ 3:39p   HTAI Cessna 177 Cardinal (02)   65S->KMSO00:19/ 4:19p   01:22/ 5:22p   HTAI Cessna 177 Cardinal (02)  KMSO-> S8300:36/ 4:36p   02:12/ 6:12p	*Cessna Skyhawk Gold&White*   KCTB-> 65S Departure	  Arrival		   Aircraft			 Leg-------------------------------  Monday  ------------------------------14:15/ 6:15a   15:28/ 7:28a	Cessna Skyhawk 172SP Paint1(tg)1S6 ->1S616:04/ 8:04a   16:42/ 8:42a		AI Cessna 421C gen 6	  KCOE->KLWS17:45/ 9:45a   18:14/10:14a	Cessna Skyhawk 172SP Paint1	KSZT->65S18:45/10:45a   19:14/11:14a	Cessna Skyhawk 172SP Paint1	65S->KSZT19:14/11:14a   19:52/11:52a		AI Cessna 421C gen 6	  KLWS->KCOE21:15/ 1:15p   22:10/ 2:10p	Cessna Skyhawk 172SP Paint1(tg)1S6 ->1S622:34/ 2:34p   23:09/ 3:09p	*Cessna Skyhawk Gold&White*(tg)65S-> 65S23:45/ 3:45p   00:33/ 4:33p	*Cessna Skyhawk Gold&White*(tg)65S-> 65S Departure	  Arrival		   Aircraft			 Leg------------------------------- Tuesday  ------------------------------14:15/ 6:15a   15:28/ 7:28a	Cessna Skyhawk 172SP Paint1(tg)1S6 ->1S616:05/ 8:05a   16:29/ 8:29a	*Cessna Skyhawk Gold&White*	65S-> 1S116:43/ 8:43a   17:41/ 9:41a	*Cessna Skyhawk Gold&White*(tg)1S1-> 65S17:45/ 9:45a   18:14/10:14a	Cessna Skyhawk 172SP Paint1	KSZT->65S18:45/10:45a   19:14/11:14a	Cessna Skyhawk 172SP Paint1	65S->KSZT21:12/ 1:12p   22:36/ 2:36p		AI Cessna 421C gen 6	  KCOE->KBOI21:15/ 1:15p   22:10/ 2:10p	Cessna Skyhawk 172SP Paint1(tg)1S6 ->1S601:12/ 5:12p   02:36/ 6:36p		AI Cessna 421C gen 6	  KBOI->KCOE Departure	  Arrival		   Aircraft			 Leg------------------------------ Wednesday ------------------------------14:15/ 6:15a   15:28/ 7:28a	Cessna Skyhawk 172SP Paint1(tg)1S6 ->1S615:22/ 7:22a   16:50/ 8:50a		AI Cessna 421C gen 6	  KCOE->CYVR17:22/ 9:22a   17:51/ 9:51a	*Cessna Skyhawk Gold&White*	65S->KSZT17:45/ 9:45a   18:14/10:14a	Cessna Skyhawk 172SP Paint1	KSZT->65S18:05/10:05a   18:37/10:37a	*Cessna Skyhawk Gold&White*   KSZT->KCOE18:07/10:07a   18:35/10:35a	 Cessna 421C 'Critical Air	KSFF->KSZT18:45/10:45a   19:14/11:14a	Cessna Skyhawk 172SP Paint1	65S->KSZT18:50/10:50a   19:15/11:15a	*Cessna Skyhawk Gold&White*   KCOE->KSFF18:52/10:52a   19:20/11:20a	 Cessna 421C 'Critical Air	KSZT->KSFF20:32/12:32a   21:26/ 1:26p	*Cessna Skyhawk Gold&White*   KSFF-> 65S21:15/ 1:15p   22:10/ 2:10p	Cessna Skyhawk 172SP Paint1(tg)1S6 ->1S623:19/ 3:19p   00:47/ 4:47p		AI Cessna 421C gen 6	  CYVR->KCOE Departure	  Arrival		   Aircraft			 Leg------------------------------ Thursday ------------------------------14:15/ 6:15a   15:28/ 7:28a	Cessna Skyhawk 172SP Paint1(tg)1S6 ->1S614:49/ 6:49a   18:19/10:19a		AI Cessna 421C gen 6	  KCOE->PAKT17:45/ 9:45a   18:14/10:14a	Cessna Skyhawk 172SP Paint1	KSZT->65S18:45/10:45a   19:14/11:14a	Cessna Skyhawk 172SP Paint1	65S->KSZT21:15/ 1:15p   22:10/ 2:10p	Cessna Skyhawk 172SP Paint1(tg)1S6 ->1S618:52/10:52a   22:10/ 2:10p		AI Cessna 421C gen 6	  PAKT->PANC Departure	  Arrival		   Aircraft			 Leg------------------------------   Friday  ------------------------------14:15/ 6:15a   15:28/ 7:28a	Cessna Skyhawk 172SP Paint1(tg)1S6 ->1S617:45/ 9:45a   18:14/10:14a	Cessna Skyhawk 172SP Paint1	KSZT->65S18:45/10:45a   19:14/11:14a	Cessna Skyhawk 172SP Paint1	65S->KSZT21:15/ 1:15p   22:10/ 2:10p	Cessna Skyhawk 172SP Paint1(tg)1S6 ->1S622:38/ 2:38p   01:56/ 5:56p		AI Cessna 421C gen 6	  PANC->PAKT23:19/ 3:19p   00:24/ 4:24p	  Bering Air Piper Navajo	 KSZT->KCTB02:19/ 6:19p   05:49/ 9:49p		AI Cessna 421C gen 6	  PAKT->KCOE03:18/ 7:44p   04:16/ 8:16p	*Cessna Skyhawk Gold&White*	65S->KGEG04:43/ 3:44p   05:41/ 9:41p	*Cessna Skyhawk Gold&White*   KGEG-> 65S Departure	  Arrival		   Aircraft			 Leg------------------------------  Saturday ------------------------------14:15/ 6:15a   15:28/ 7:28a	Cessna Skyhawk 172SP Paint1(tg)1S6 ->1S617:45/ 9:45a   18:14/10:14a	Cessna Skyhawk 172SP Paint1	KSZT->65S18:33/10:33a   19:38/11:38a	  Bering Air Piper Navajo	 KCTB->KSZT18:45/10:45a   19:14/11:14a	Cessna Skyhawk 172SP Paint1	65S->KSZT19:04/11:04a   19:38/11:38a   HTAI Cessna 177 Cardinal (04)   88M-> S5920:04/12:04p   20:35/12:35p   HTAI Cessna 177 Cardinal (04)   S59-> 65S21:12/ 1:12p   21:53/ 1:53p   HTAI Cessna 177 Cardinal (04)   65S-> 88M21:15/ 1:15p   22:10/ 2:10p	Cessna Skyhawk 172SP Paint1(tg)1S6 ->1S6

I add flights to this every once in a while when I'm in the mood, I don't consider it "finished" by any means. Mostly when I fly around in the sim and notice something strange with the AI or that I should add an AI flight, I'll modify it. It's an ongoing project, I don't think it could be done any other way :) .Jim

They each say pretty much the same, just depends on whose writing style you prefer.http://www.aimadeeasy.com/http://www.john-goodwin.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/page4frame.htmlhttp://www.flightsim.com/cgi/kds?$=main/howto/ai4beg.htmHope that helps you out. :-wave
