Scenery question

Recommended Posts

Hi guysWhy rivers, roads etc have such odd displacement regarding the mesh? I have to believe that for both the reference points must be different, or is there some wrong parameter in my system?Regards,Hugo

The only real parameter I can think of is the flattening effect which is set in terrain.cfg. For everything else the roads, etc are "painted" onto the mesh/landclass. If they are in the wrong location it is due to the low quality source data used in FS9.scott s..

Part of it is the way MS created the basic parts of scenery. The small details, such as roads, RR's, rivers and streams were done without much concern about realistic placement to match the terrain. It's a major task to do all of that, with a limited amount of time.Part of the secret of success in life is to eat what you like -M.Twain

As much money as Microsoft makes, time should be cheap. They know that some third party vendor like FSGenesis or Flight 1 will bail their product out. That is the history of this software. The pro is that jobs get created and talent gets displayed. The down side is that you need to be ready to spend some cash to get a higher level of satisfaction.

Roads, rivers and mesh all have different source data from different companies / vendors. And they have different standards as to their "quality".Acutally the question should be "How the heck to MS match it up so well so often?" rather than why is it so different sometimes.
