FS2004 visibility

Recommended Posts

Guest Pilot533

What sit the setting I should use to have the max visiblity in fs2004 set to about 48nm? I treid changing MAX_UNLIMITED_VIS= to 40000 but all it did was give me blue "boundaries" around a block of land that I could not see beyond. I had a screenshot, but it didnt save. I also use active sky and set the max vis to 38, but after about 15000 ft it wares off. Basically what I want is the fs blue haze texture around all the time, not so much where I cant see the ground from 37000ft, but just so the land is coated with a realistic "moisture level."

Hi Mike,The maximum visibility value in Active Sky should be valid for whatever altitude you are at. Again, this is looking forward, not down at the ground. You are correct, the METAR visibility value does fade around 10K.Try with Use FS9 Haze turned On in Active Sky. Save the settings and restart AS and FS04.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

If you use Flight Environment, (Flight1), then there are certain sky/cloud combinations that will give you a haze effect from the higher flight levels. However, in FS9 the haze will look like it's following the aircraft, not the aircraft flying over the haze. Also, might want to look into "Soft Horizons" that can be found here at Avsim.John M
