What's my error?

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for a WWII B-25 and went into Avsim's library using "WWII/Fs2004 original aircraft" and it only showed 6 aircraft!. As BIG as Avsim's file library is I know they must have MORE WWII acft than that. A year or so ago, they changed the way you search for files here on Avsim and I've never been able to sucessfuly use it correctly. Just finished reading the "instructions".....didn't help me a bit. jerry

Hi Jerry,When I search for an aircraft I usually start off with a vague description of what I am searching for. In this case I typed in the "Search for" B-25 and "In Category" I selected ---Flight Simulator 2004, in this case the result was 10 files. I then searched for WWII and the result was 127 files of various aircraft. I generally do that when I am not sure of an exact file and then I narrow it down from there as it lists all the possibilities and you can select where you wish to narrow your search for from there.Alternatively I use the google search function and for example for the B-25 I used B-25 Mitchell FS2004 and got this result:http://www.google.ca/search?q=B-25+Mitchel...:en-US:officialAs you may notice there is a great deal of info out there, some useful, some not, but in most cases unless you are registered you may not have access to those files. As for the B-25 Mitchell there is a payware version at the link below: http://www.maam.org/php/xcart/MAAM-SIM-Nor...04-p-16134.htmlDo check for reviews on this product as I am unsure of it's quality or better yet ask on the forum, there are plenty of us here that want to help.Best of luck to you,

\Robert Hamlich/

Can't say for sure, but I bought Briefing Time (and the R4D) from MAAM more to support their excellent museum and aircraft renovation projects. Both add-ons are very good.RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VSantiago de Chile

I did it as a donation too, but in the end the money was well spent as both MAAM birds are amazing donation or not.Not to mention the videos you get on the CD :)I wish the CWH guys would do something similar.

Hi,I have both. They are both "excellent". In my estimation, they are both about equal in quality & have very similiar flying charactertistics. The main difference is that Roy Chaffin's does not have a virtual cockpit. They were both developed about the same time amongst some controversery. Roy Chaffin was on the same MAAM team with Bill Rambow & ended up leaving & forming his own RCS organization & came out with his B25.If you like B25s, get them both.Bob Anderson

Thanks for the info. Since I do not fly in virtual cockpit I'll stick with Roy's B-25. He sent me a email the other and added a link to a B-25, version 2. jerrycwo4

Hi,Roy's has a pop-up Sperry ( same as the MAAM DC-3?) and other very fine instrumentation, similar to the MAAM one, but has no VC if that's a problem for you. It also has only one or two repaints I think and the MAAM one has loads. The MAAM has a walkthrough facility and by buying it you are assisting the Museum, which seems a reasonable way to spend a bit of money.Andy.

I quite agree about gettimg the MAAM "Briefing Time" CD. It's an excellent aircraft. The actuall airplane on display at the mueseum has been totally restored to just off the assembly line condition, and tours the air shows across the country.Part of the secret of success in life is to eat what you like -M.Twain
