Panel and / or Model Aliasing

Recommended Posts

Hi All.I was wondering if someone might be good enough to give me a few pointers on this one please.if I have a good plane model, but a poor panel, and would like to use a different panel from another model, Do I just delete the poor panel folder contents and copy the good panel contents into that respective folder ?Many thanks.

First, keep in mind that if the aircraft involved has a virtual cockpit, the aliased panel will remove any gauges in the VC and it will likely appear blank. That said, this is what I do:I create a second panel folder for the aliased panel, and name the folder panel.xxx (where xxx equals something meaningful, such as PMDG).Then I edit my aircraft.cfg as follows (note the "panel=" line):title=John's Super 737sim=John's Super 737model=panel=PMDGsound=texture=ui_manufacturer=Boeingui_type=737-700ui_variation=UAL w/PMDG Panelatc_heavy=0atc_id=atc_airline=atc_flight_number=editable=0atc_id_color=0x00000000visual_damage=0atc_parking_codes=atc_parking_types=RAMPdescription="Just an example"Again, note the panel line. The reason I prefer this method is it lets me keep a backup of the old panel folder so I can test the new panel, and/or switch to something more framerate friendly if I want to later on. I have aircraft in my library that have multiple entries referencing several panels, as an example.I hope this helps. I haven't posted in a while and I enjoy responding to threads where I think I can offer some advice. Regards,John

Similar to what John said:You can also just rename your old panel folders. Heres what I have for my 737NGpanelpanel.thatniceonewiththeHUDpanel.nicebitmappanel.customThen when you want to use one of them just rename it to "panel"
