adding bush strips

Recommended Posts

Guest pistonpete

G'day, I'm wanting to help some young guys with pre-ops orientation before they go to fly in North Aussie for MAF. I've got local knowledge from when I used to fly there but it would be really handy for them to have a look at some low level (tropical wet season type) nav exercises to actual outstation bush strips before they go. I used to have a small utility which would add simple airstrips, buildings etc to FS2004 but I didn't ever back it up. If anyone can point me in the direction of a basic one which will let me do this I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Here's how I create my own airports for FS9:1.)Flatten2,)Exclude3.) AFCAD24.) Add scenery objectsAs you know, any *.BGL file anywhere in the FS9/folder tree will loadI've learned to make a New Scenery folder and place the AF2 file in its /scenery subfolder and ADD Scenery from the Main Menu -- it's simply a matter of good bookkeeping. This causes FS9 to create a new scenery.cfg entry (append) to the FS9/scenery.cfg file which can be edited in Notepad MAKE A BACKUP OF THE SCENERY.CFG FILE BEFORE EDITINGI then copy&paste the Flatten= and Exclude= switches to this entry; e.g.,[Area.333]Title=AnywhereLocal=Addon SceneryAnywhereRemote=Active=TRUERequired=FALSE// Flatten.0=711.5,N41 10.95,E14 44.20,N41 10.95,E14 44.86,N41 10.73,E14 44.86,N41 10.73,E14 44.20// Exclude=N41 10.98,E14 44.18,N41 10.73,E14 44.86,allFlatten.0=711.5,N41 10.95,E14 44.00,N41 10.95,E14 44.99,N41 10.73,E14 44.06,N41 10.73,E14 44.99Exclude=N41 11.98,E14 04.18,N41 10.03,E14 45.16,allLayer=334One can see some lines (above) have been remmed using forward slashes //In this way the switches can be edited by hand 1.) I use FREE FlaTTex for flatten and exclude switches2.) AFCAD2 for the airport, parking and runways (if required)3.) EZ-Scenery (payware $29) for addon sceneryAn alternative to add scenery objects is FREE Rwy12
