Anyone know what this is: fx_fanengine_medium_idle.fx

Recommended Posts

I am getting stutters because fs9 is looking for "fx_fanengine_medium_idle.fx" in the effects folder and it isn't there. I did a search and couldn't find anything. Can I just make a folder and name it "fx_fanengine_medium_idle.fx" to fix the problem? Thanks.

Thank you Jim. I wonder if that call is from one of the UT birds. I just installed the new update. We shall see.

That's very likely, because there are instructions in the file on installing the heatblur effect to AI aircraft. If a person cared, you could use an advanced text editor's "Find in files" function to search for occurances of "fx_fanengine_medium_idle" in all files named "aircraft.cfg" to find it. Textpad or Notepad++ both have this feature.Jim

Hi Jim,I did find a couple of the UT Airbus models were calling for the files. The odd thing though is the files were in my effects folder. I ended up putting a couple slash signs in front of the entries in the respective config files. More needs to be learned though. I checked the spelling and didn't find any descrepancies. I don't know why the files were not found. Thanks for the info on Textpad/notepad.
